Let the Dem civil war begin! Ocasio-Cortez calls for inexperienced ‘Justice Democrats’ to run for office

Talk about transformative change, Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is not only going to Washington, D.C., to fight Republicans, but incumbent Democrats as well.

Participating on a Justice Democrats strategy call with more than 700 attendees, the proud democratic socialist called on them to run for office against Republicans AND incumbent Democrats, according to The Hill.

“Long story short, I need you to run for office,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “All I’m asking you to do is throw your hat in the ring, say ‘what the heck.’”

Ocasio-Cortez defeated Rep. Joe Crowley, who was House Democratic Caucus Chairman, in a primary battle and told the hard-left participants that her journey began after a Justice Democrats strategy call, The Hill reported.

Justice Democrats are a group of progressive Democrats looking to shift the party even further left than it already is — socialism comes to mind.

Of course, those on the call may not wrap their radical views in a package as attractive as Ocasio-Cortez does. Sometimes.

“All Americans know money in politics is a huge problem, but unfortunately the way that we fix it is by demanding that our incumbents give it up or by running fierce campaigns ourselves,” she said.

Feeling her oats, Ocasio-Cortez suggested that Democrats who accept corporate money — all of them? — be targeted.

“I don’t think people who are taking money from pharmaceutical companies should be drafting health care legislation,” she explained. “I don’t think people who are taking money from oil and gas companies should be drafting climate legislation.”

Not even sworn into office yet, Ocasio-Cortez spent her first day on Capital Hill participating in a protest in House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s office — which is not exactly winning friends within the party power structure.

It remains to be seen how Democrats who have been entrenched in Congress for 30-40 years respond to the brash young socialist calling for their ouster.

But then, as more than one social media user noted, Ocasio-Cortez may end up having more in common with them than she realizes in that SHE might be facing a primary challenger of her own.
