The American Civil Liberties Union and the Southern Poverty Law Center filed a federal lawsuit to block President Trump’s move to limit asylum for the 7,000-plus migrants in the multiple caravans en route to the US.
“President Trump’s new asylum ban is illegal,” the ACLU’s Omar Jadwat said in a statement. “Neither the president nor his Cabinet secretaries can override the clear commands of U.S. law, but that’s exactly what they’re trying to do.”
ACTUALLY, the president has sweeping authority to keep anyone out of the United States under the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, which is the country’s main immigration law.
The Trump administration fired back by slamming the left’s disdain for US sovereignty and disrespect for our borders — and for prioritizing the needs of illegal aliens over American citizens and lawful residents.
“The fact that the ACLU and its partners would go to court to specifically sue for the right for aliens to enter the country illegally is demonstrative of the open-border community’s disdain for our nation’s laws that almost all rational Americans find appalling.”
President Trump announced a new rule to crack down on “meritless” asylum claims as the mass caravan of migrants from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador stampede toward the US to demand entry.
Specifically, Trump said the migrants in the caravan will not be allowed asylum unless they do LEGALLY at designated ports of entry.
“Consistent with our immigration laws, the President has the broad authority to suspend or restrict the entry of aliens into the United States if he determines it to be in the national interest to do so,” said Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.
Mark Krikorian — the executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies — said almost all the migrants in the caravan know they do not qualify for asylum because their claims are not legitimate.
Keep in mind that many of the migrants rejected Mexico’s offer of political asylum, insisting they want to come to the United States, as BizPac Review has reported.
MS 13 gang members, criminals, potential terrorists, and child smugglers have infiltrated the caravan, according to multiple press reports.

Democrats and the media have slammed President Trump as a “racist” for enforcing longstanding federal immigration laws, even though they blithely cheered on Barack Obama and Bill Clinton when they held the same policy position.
Obama in 2005: “We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently and lawfully to become immigrants into this country.”

“The point is to get past the border patrol and into the United States,” Krikorian told Fox News (video above). “They know they’re not getting asylum [because their claims are not legit]. It’s just some magic words to be able to get into the country.”
In response to the ACLU’s frivolous lawsuit, Krikorian underscored: “The president clearly has the authority to do this. Congress has given him sweeping authority to keep out of the United states any persons or any class of persons that he deems detrimental to the United States. So yes, he can do this.”
