Ryan Reynolds hits pal Hugh Jackman with hilarious mock political ad, but Jackman gets the last laugh

An entertaining feud of sorts between actor Hugh Jackman and “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds continues to pay dividends, as seen in a mock political ad the latter released about the former.

Titled “The Greatest Showman,” the parody mocks political ads currently inundating Americans in the run up to Tuesday’s midterm election while focusing on Jackman’s latest movie, “The Front Runner.”

Jackman plays onetime presidential candidate Gary Hart in the film and the narrator, who sounds suspiciously like Reynolds, claims the actor “has fooled some people into thinking he deserves an award.”

“How well do you really know @RealHughJackman?” reads the caption with the ad, which Reynolds shared on Twitter.

Hugh Jackman isn’t his real name,” the narrator says. “It’s Hugh Michael Jackman. Hugh Michael speaks with a charming accent but he’s actually from Milwaukee. He then walked off the job on ‘Wolverine,’ adding to unemployment.”

“Is this the type of amazing actor and nice person we want delivering a preachy, liberal speech this award season?” the ad continues. “Or maybe there’s a real foreigner, from a bordering country, who would really love it a lot.”

(Reynolds, who is friends with Jackman, is reportedly from Canada.)

“Think before you vote, but definitely see ‘The Front Runner,'” the spot concludes.

A disclaimer says, “Paid for by Not Ryan Reynolds.”

But Jackman proved he’s up to the challenge, releasing his own video in response to the mock ad.

The actor is seen in the clip picking up dog droppings — strategically deposited atop a photo of Reynolds.

“HIGH ROAD,” the caption reads.

Touché!

Another hilarious exchange between the pals — that doubles as a brilliant marketing ploy — was seen on Reynold’s birthday last month.

Jackman tweeted a photo of the two hugging, adding: “Because I’m told that I AM THE NICEST GUY and you’re NOT. @VancityReynolds … I will let you hug me. Just this once. On your birthday.”

Prompting this response from his friend: “This man is a monster. He’s not even from Australia. He’s from Milwaukee.”

Turns out, Jackman too is an October birthday boy.
