Actor James Cromwell warns ‘blood in the streets’ if Trump remains in power, promises a ‘revolution’

Actor James Cromwell issued an ominous warning that the United States is facing another a “revolution” with “blood in the streets” if President Donald Trump remains in office.

The liberal actor used his time at the fourth annual Carney Awards, where he was honored for his work as a character actor, to share his thoughts on the current state of politics with Variety on Sunday.

“This is nascent fascism. We always had a turnkey, totalitarian state — all we needed was an excuse, and all the institutions were in place to turn this into pure fascism,” Cromwell told Variety the red carpet at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica, Calif.

“If we don’t stop [President Trump] now, then we will have a revolution for real. Then there will be blood in the streets,” he added.

Cromwell, known for his roles in films such as such as “Babe,” “The Green Mile,” “Big Hero 6,” “Boardwalk Empire” and “American Horror Story,” has also been a vocal political activist, getting arrested multiple times for participating in  protests, according at Fox News.

The 78-year-old liberal echoed his sentiments later in an acceptance speech at the event.

“We’re living in very curious times, and something is coming up which is desperately important to this country and to this planet, and that is an election, in which hopefully in some measure we are going to take back our democracy,” the actor who played George H.W. Bush in Oliver Stone’s “W,” told the audience.

“We will have a government that represents us and not the donor class. We will cut through the corruption, [and] we won’t have to do what comes next, which is either a non-violent revolution or a violent one, because this has got to end,” he added.

In the wake of a deadly mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue over the weekend, as well as the steady stream of violent threats facing the nation daily, Cromwell’s tone-deaf rhetoric seems even more worthy of condemnation.

Social media users unloaded on the actor and the virtue signaling by the “wealthy, elite class,” in Hollywood.
