Rep. Louie Gohmert accuses Mueller of strategically timing Russia probe report to help Dems, and himself

Texas congressman Louie Gohmert believes special counselor Robert Mueller has purposefully leaked information about his investigation to the public in a bid to affect the upcoming midterm elections.

“I told you there’s no way they’re gonna wrap this up before the election,” he said to host Harris Faulkner during an appearance Wednesday on “Outnumbered Overtime,” referencing his prediction months earlier that the investigation would last up and through the midterms.

“They need this to help the Democrats in the election. And you know, why in the world do you have to release a statement saying you’re pretty well through, you’re coming out with a report right after the election? To effect the election. That’s all Mueller cares about.”

These remarks referenced a Bloomberg report from earlier in week that claimed via anonymous sources that Mueller “is expected to issue findings on core aspects of his Russia probe soon after the November midterm elections.”

Some believe that Democrat voters will be more motivated to turn out for the November vote if they think Mueller is on the verge of indicting President Donald Trump for colluding with Russian operatives to affect the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.

While no evidence has yet surfaced to prove this allegation, many on the left remain convinced of the president’s guilt nevertheless. To them it’s practically an indisputable fact that the president and his top officials are criminals, the actual facts notwithstanding.

Gohmert personally believes the special counselor purposefully leaked information to Bloomberg in a bid to protect himself from potential prosecution.

“If he can help the Democrats take the majority in the House, then some of his potential crimes can go unobserved and uninvestigated,” he said Wednesday, alluding to his long-held belief that the special counselor is part of a “Deep State” cadre working actively to thwart the president.

The Texas congressman also thinks the alleged leak is designed to protect him from Democrat rage. This theory is based on the claim that Mueller gave out information “about not having indictments.”

“By giving information out earlier about not having indictments, particularly of the president himself, that’s trying to prepare the Democrats so they won’t be as mad at Mueller as he’s afraid they’re going to be, but there’s just nothing there,” he said.

“So he’s doing two things: trying to prepare the Democrats, ‘Don’t be mad at me, we just hadn’t found stuff and can’t indict,’ and, then, at the same time, they’re not going to have any bad report on obstruction. They’re not going to have any evidence, hard evidence of collusion between the president and the Russians — that was between Hillary’s folks.”

It’s unclear what he meant, since there have been no announcements from Mueller about “not having indictments.” In fact, the left is currently salivating over the prospect of the special counsel indicting more people, including perhaps even the president himself.

Look:

A sitting president cannot be indicted, but who cares about the facts, right?
