Here’s why Maxine Waters is the ‘poster person for term limits’

A California Republican congressional candidate slammed his opponent, Rep. Maxine Waters, for being “weak” and “ineffective” as well as inciting “mob” violence against supporters of President Donald Trump.

Republican candidate Omar Navarro argued that a message of “unity” has to be brought back to communities, not the divisive rhetoric that Waters has been spewing.

Navarro told “Fox & Friends” Saturday that the California Democrat is not talking about the issues that matter to her constituents because she has embarked on an anti-Trump “impeach tour” that has consumed her.

“Maxine Waters is not offering solutions to the table. We are not talking about mental health. We are not talking about human trafficking. We are not talking about jobs or the economy in our district. These are things that are concerns to the people,” Navarro said, noting that Waters has been “in office for over 27 years” but “only passed three bills.”

“It shows the inefficiency in government. That’s why we need term limits,” Navarro said, adding that he was two tears old when Waters was first elected to Congress.

“She is the poster child for term limits,” he said, referring back to the congresswoman’s slam of the president and Republicans for “trying to change the description of protest and call it a mob.”

“Well, this president is the poster boy for what a mob protester looks like,” Waters told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes.

“This is wrong. You shouldn’t be advocating for violence. We have to bring a unity message back into our communities,” Navarro argued.

“Maxine Waters is not offering anything better. She is just offering a lot of lip service. No solutions to any problems that are really going on. At the end of the day, we have to work with the president. We can’t work against his interests. The only way to get the job done is to work with him,” he added.

And while Navarro said he is getting great support in his district, he has found that the people Waters is supposed to be representing are in the dark on their current congressional representative.

“A lot of people in my district don’t know who Maxine Waters is. When I talk to people going to door to door make phone calls,” he said. “I was very surprised getting the message. A lot of people are very receptive over me and happy I’m running. They don’t know Maxine Waters is representing them. All they see her is on TV giving lip service.”

Navarro is looking forward to possibly debating his opponent if she would focus on the issues and resort to the identity politics as he said she has “called me out and said that I was not Latino because I’m Cuban.”

“Actually I’m half Mexican,” Navarro clarified.

“If you, sir, can run on the economy, and you can debate her on the economy and you can debate her on the issues that matter to your voters, you are in business,” host Trish Regan said.
