Arnold Schwarzenegger has regrets about coining ‘girlie man’ phrase, says it felt right at the time

After so much time in California, Arnold has gone soy.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, once the specimen of a man’s man, says that he regrets coining the phrase “girlie men.”

“At the time it felt like the right thing to do. It was in my gut. I improvised it,” the actor told Men’s Health magazine. “I called them girlie men because they weren’t willing to take risks.”

“They were afraid of everything,” he explained. “Politicians, in general, want to do little things, so there’s no risk involved.”

Schwarzenegger used the term to characterize his Democrat opponents in the state legislature when he was governor of California, but is now apologetic, saying that it was counterproductive.

“It was shortsighted. In the long term, it’s better to not say that, because you want to work with them,” he said.

He then cited Ronald Reagan tenure as president.

“If you have a little sense of history, you know that the best things are accomplished when both parties work together and start compromising like [GOP President] Ronald Reagan did with [Democrat Speaker] Tip O’Neill,” Schwarzenegger sais. “They argued in public and attacked each other, but with a little wink. That’s why so much got done in the Reagan administration.

“When you can reach out across the aisle and work together, you can get much more accomplished, rather than ‘girlie men’ or ‘f*ck you’ or ‘it’s my way or the highway.’”

Obama administration come to mind?

What is being missed by Schwarzennegger is that today’s Democrat Party, which openly touts democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as its “future,” is a far cry from now-extinct Blue Dog Democrats from Reagan’s day.

Asked his first royal decree if he were Conan the King, Schwarzenegger exposed his inner liberal.

“Access for everyone to health care,” he stated. “And to get off the arms race and to get off Verschmutzung [polluting]. It’s inexcusable to have so much plastic floating around in the oceans.”

An interesting comment, given his remarks when President Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“President Trump, I just saw your press conference with President Putin and it was embarrassing,” Schwarzenegger said in an Instagram video. “I mean, you stood there like a little wet noodle, like a little fanboy.”

If Trump was to be antagonistic toward Putin, you’d darn well hope he had a big stick to back himself up, no?
