Nancy Pelosi lays out how to execute a ‘wrap-up smear’ strategy, and it sounds VERY familiar

The smear campaign Democrats used against Justice Brett Kavanaugh should have come as no surprise.

Apparently the tactics used to forever tarnish Kavanaugh’s name were part of a strategy that seemed to be laid out in detail by Nancy Pelosi in 2017.

A newly re-surfaced video of the House Minority Leader shows her explaining the “wrap-up smear” to reporters last year, in what sounds very similar to the same ploys just used by Democrats in their efforts to take down the then-Supreme Court nominee.

“It’s a diversionary tactic,” Pelosi said, explaining that Republicans had been employing the technique. “It’s a self-fulfilling prophesy, you demonize and then — the ‘wrap-up smear.’ You wanna talk politics? We call it the ‘wrap-up smear.'”

“You smear somebody with falsehoods and all the rest,” she continued, “and then you merchandise it. And then you write it, and then they say, ‘See, it’s reported in the press that this, this, this, and this.’ So they have that validation that the press reported the smear, and then it’s called the ‘wrap-up smear.'”

“And now I’m going to merchandise the press’s report on the smear that we made,” she added. “It’s a tactic. And it’s self-evident.”

These same tactics appear to have played out in Kavanaugh’s contentious confirmation process, with multiple uncorroborated accusations of sexual misconduct – some of them straining credulity – and an eager press ready to give the allegations the “validation” needed to keep them going.

President Donald Trump ceremonially swore Kavanaugh in on Monday, apologizing to him and his family for the way he was treated through the process, following tense vote by the Senate Saturday.

The video of Pelosi’s explanation of the “wrap-up smear” made the rounds on social media and sparked plenty of outrage.
