The hard left is taking another swing at the Electoral College in the aftermath of Brett Kavanaugh being confirmed as the 114th justice to the Supreme Court.
Much like we saw when Hillary Clinton lost to now-President Donald Trump, the “future” of the Democratic Party, democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is pushing for the Electoral College to be abolished.
Responding to a tweet from GQ magazine’s Julia Ioffe blaming the Electoral College for Kavanaugh, the Democratic nominee for New York’s 14th Congressional District called for it to done away with.
“It is well past time we eliminate the Electoral College, a shadow of slavery’s power on America today that undermines our nation as a democratic republic,” tweeted Ocasia-Cortez.

All of which shows that Ocasio-Cortez and her progressive ilk have no clue about the purpose of the Electoral College.
Or maybe they do, which helps explain their headlong push for direct democracy in this country.
For what it’s worth, Clinton has repeatedly called for eliminating the system.
“I think it needs to be eliminated,” she told CNN last month. “I’d like to see us move beyond it, yes.”
Republican strategist Ford O’Connell appeared on “Fox & Friends” on Monday to say Ocasio-Cortez is “the gift that keeps on giving.”
“I knew she couldn’t do basic math when she said unemployment was so low because everyone had two jobs,” O’Connell said. “And I knew she couldn’t do basic civics when essentially she said I can’t wait to be inaugurated and pass bills into law, because it’s not exactly like House members do that, but I didn’t think she was a whiner.”
“Democrats constantly want to change the game every time they don’t get their way,” he added.
Abolishing the Electoral College would require a constitutional amendment, which is to assume the left isn’t successful in abolishing THAT first.
Social media users, led by talk radio’s Andrew Wilkow, was only too happy to help educate the poorly informed democratic socialist:
Actually the electoral college is the bedrock of a Democratic-Republic. https://t.co/0kWO9Gl7pV

No but seriously. Look at how quickly they advocate burning down century-old deliberative and small-r republican institutions when things don't go their way for a couple years. https://t.co/7bWibppGdW

Good Lord, young lady, did you never study civics? Or did you skip class to "demonstrate with the people?" Seriously, this statement is an indictment of just how poorly you paid attention in school. You should be ashamed of yourself. https://t.co/ibQYKGEFVR

Translating Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: "It is well past time we eliminate the Electoral College, as a means to rid ourselves of this troublesome republic, and revert to mob rule." We'll have the "Hunger Games." https://t.co/KaUVN9SwYc https://t.co/HzSsQVSclK

Hard to imagine Jefferson, Madison, Franklin et al even holding a candle to her blazing political brilliance. So, you know, whatever… https://t.co/Xz8bGWEfQa

Maybe stick with bartending. The electoral college is clearly above your head, you know like basic math is.
If you must stay in politics, change your name to Occasional Cortex. #MAGA

I think you should read a bit more about the rule of the mob and the fall of the Roman Republic. Our founders did. Thus the electoral college
