Senator Lindsey Graham, who won praise for his spectacular, real “Spartacus” moment during Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, said he was honored to defend the Supreme Court nominee, and reiterated that he will vote for him.
“I’m honored to help him,” Graham told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “If I helped him today, it’s one of the highlights of my career…I am more convinced than ever that he’s the right guy to be on the court.”
Graham — an attorney who was a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Air Force — said he believes Christine Blasey Ford suffered a traumatic incident during her youth, but Kavanaugh was not the culprit based on the total lack of evidence. Ford’s decades-old accusations remain uncorroborated and flimsy despite her emotional testimony.
“Ms. Ford has a problem, but destroying Judge Kavanaugh’s life won’t fix her problem,” Graham said. He then slammed Democrats for using Ford to try to derail Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination.
“This is not about finding the truth,” Graham said of the Democrats’ transparent ploy. “It’s about delaying the hearing to get past the midterms, hope that they pick up the Senate, and deny the [Supreme Court] seat to be filled by Donald Trump.”

Lindsey Graham dismissed the Democrats’ sham smear campaign against Kavanaugh as a “desperate” ploy. “This was a wholesale effort to take a good man and ruin his life, and it backfired on them,” he said. “They were willing to set a man up and destroy his life.”
Judge Kavanaugh won widespread praise for his fiery defense of his family, his reputation, and his career with an impassioned, emotional opening statement that brought many Americans to tears.
“I was honored to be in his presence,” Graham said. “I’ve never seen a man command a room like he did…If we go to the floor of the Senate, we’re going to pick up some Democrats.”

The Senate Judiciary Committee will vote today (September 28), and a final Senate vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court is scheduled for October 2.
Here’s a flashback to the stirring speech Lindsey Graham delivered that catapulted him as the hero of the Senate Judiciary hearing.
And here are some reactions that captured how Republicans felt about Graham’s moving statements.
Senator Lindsay Graham distinguished himself today as the fairest man and the best lawyer in Washington. He voted for Justices Sotormayor and Kagen on old fashioned principles. I also did. If he is going to vote for Judge Kavanaugh, the Senate all should.

How did @LindseyGrahamSC’s stemwinder during the Kavanaugh hearing play with fellow Rs? When he walked into a meeting of Republican senators post-hearing not long ago, he was greeted with raucous applause.
