The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway blasted CNN hack Brian Stelter in a heated Twitter exchange where he defended the media’s reckless coverage of uncorroborated, 11th hour accusations against Brett Kavanaugh in an apparent bid to derail his Supreme Court nomination.
The Twitter beef started after Hemingway decried the irresponsible reporting of the mainstream media, which in most cases have published unsubstantiated allegations of gang rape and sexual assault without carefully vetting the stories beforehand.

‘Media Performance on Kavanaugh Story Is Disgusting’
Hemingway tweeted: “Media performance on this Kavanaugh story has been disgusting and truly reprehensible. Something needs to be done. Where are the adults?”
A defensive Stelter retorted, “Hundreds of journalists are carefully and responsibly covering a really complicated story. Some of them are your colleagues! They are adults. I think you should give them a little credit in between your constant attacks.”

LOL. i'm saying you should put away your broad brush. hundreds of journalists are carefully and responsibly covering a really complicated story. some of them are your colleagues! they are adults. i think you should give them a little credit in between your constant attacks.

Then get specific — about what's "shameful" — instead of attacking an entire industry, including your colleagues at Fox. Heading to bed, have a good night.

One Kavanaugh Accuser Recanted Accusations
At one point, The Federalist co-founder Sean Davis stepped in to point out that CNN had been running a sham rape accusation against Judge Kavanaugh even though the accuser recanted his claims hours earlier.
Davis tweeted: “As of this very moment, your network is still peddling a bogus rape accusation against Kavanaugh even though it was 1) an obvious, unsubstantiated lie from a deranged left-wing kook, and 2) recanted hours ago.”
As BizPac Review reported, one of Kavanaugh’s 11-hour accusers recanted his sex-assault claims. The sham “fifth accuser” later apologized for his false, malicious allegation.
But CNN ran with the fake, recanted story for several hours.

Stephen Miller noted that CNN let the recanted accusation “hang in the air from 8 p.m. until 11:45 pm – their broadcast prime time hours and then it corrected with a story update.”

Mollie Hemingway said each new accusation coming out of the woodworks against Judge Kavanaugh is more outlandish than the last, and the media are gleefully going along with this liberal ruse.
“This woman [Julie Swetnick] is alleging that while she was an adult, she attended parties that were hosted by children were other children were raped by the miners in attendance,” Hemingway told Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
“She asserts by her own claim that she attended 10 of these parties and witnessed these gang rapes, and that she continued to go to these parties, doing nothing, while she was an adult in these children were engaged in this behavior.”
Hemingway added: “I find it difficult to believe that story on its face. Many people in the media are taking it very seriously and they think it’s very real — that Judge Kavanaugh was the leader of a child gang-rape cartel that somehow managed not to be discovered until four days before he was about to be confirmed on the Supreme Court.
“That’s something that journalists should be skeptical of…They are promulgating this information that most people would say is a little difficult to buy.”
Hemingway added: “It’s important that people not be able to be bullied out of a nomination by outlandish claims. And it is so crucial that we believe people are innocent until proven guilty.”
