CNN’s Jim Acosta made a spectacle of himself – again – as he asked President Donald Trump to call on a “female colleague” during a press conference.
Acosta made his strange request during a Wednesday press conference in New York City as the president took questions from reporters about the United Nations and allegations against his Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
There was some cross talk between Trump and Acosta over the issue of Kavanaugh and the upcoming Capitol Hill hearing with him and Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who has accused him of sexual assault. With the president asking Acosta to “explain” his request, the CNN reporter said he thought “it would be great if a female reporter would ask you a question about this issue.”
Who is the dumbass who asked if the President would take a question from a woman and then refused to give the mic to a woman?

Jim Acosta.

“What does he mean by that,” Trump asked, looking around.
As Acosta restated his remarks, without extending the microphone himself to a woman in the press area, Trump responded.
“I wouldn’t mind it at all, no. I wouldn’t mind it at all. Wouldn’t make any difference to me. Go ahead,” he said.
Is that @acosta claiming that @realdonaldtrump is afraid of questions from women? Holy hell.

Following the exchange and after the president spent some time answering Acosta’s actual question, he did call on a female reporter, NBC’s Hallie Jackson.
Acosta must have been feeling bold as he confronted Trump on why he “always seem to side with the accused and not the accuser.”
“You have three women here who are all making allegations, who are all asking that their stories be heard,” Acosta said. “Is that because of the many allegations that you’ve had made against you over the years?”

“As far as women, whether it’s a man or a woman, these are … you know it can happen the other way, allegations can go the other way also. You understand that,” Trump replied. “But I could pick a woman and she could have charges made from many years ago also.”
Acosta’s antics earned him scathing mockery.
Fourth outlet/reporter –> Jim @Acosta making a scene by demanding Trump call on female reporters
— Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) September 26, 2018
Of course @Acosta is making a scene today at the press conference.

oh my GOD ACOSTA
— David Rutz (@DavidRutz) September 26, 2018
Oh God, Acosta’s gonna Acosta.
And now he and Trump are bickering.
Ah-MAY-zing.

— David Rutz (@DavidRutz) September 26, 2018
Just pull @Acosta’s badge already.
What a pathetic self-obsessed drama queen.
Oh how are @ccn’s ratings Jimmy? https://t.co/h2r8zJ67Jy

Stephen Colbert blasted Acosta’s attempt to appear sensitive to women during “The Late Show” Wednesday.
“Kind of a d**k move, Jim Acosta,” Colbert said. “We get it. You’re woke.”
Pretty bad when #Colbert even calls you out:
“And when fake news CNN’s Jim Acosta got a chance to ask a question, he made a suggestion to the president” Colbert said late Wednesday before tossing to a sound bite from Trump’s press conference in New York earlier in the day.
LOL

Many Twitter users berated the CNN reporter for not stepping up himself.
If Jim @Acosta TRULY cared about female reporters giving them a voice, he would have handed them the microphone
— Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) September 26, 2018
Favorite part of Jim Acosta’s valor at the press conference yesterday was when he suggested a woman should get to ask Trump a question… But only after the men are done talking.
— Eddie Scarry (@eScarry) September 27, 2018
sir, as a male feminist
— Katherine Miller (@katherinemiller) September 26, 2018
Jim Acosta—rather than hand the microphone over to a female colleague—asks Trump if a female colleague can ask him about Kavanaugh *after* Acosta gets done talking.
— John McCormack (@McCormackJohn) September 26, 2018
Why doesn’t @Acosta hand over the mic?
— Tim Carney (@TPCarney) September 26, 2018
There was also a missed opportunity by the president according to one Twitter user.
Unfortunately President Trump missed an opportunity to reply “Sure Jim! I’ll do you one better. You can sit down now, without asking me a question, and I will call on two women!”

Well, there’s always next time.
