Costumes from Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” may be appropriate for protesting the Trump administration, as seen in the silent protest of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, spicing up the attire isn’t going over so well.
Social media user Ban McDonald tweeted a find that he deemed to be the inevitable evolution: a “Slutty Handmaid” Halloween costume.
“Slutty Handmaid Tale Costume was the natural progression of things,” he tweeted.

The tweet, or should we say the costume featuring a sex red minidress, created quite the stir. So much so that Yandy.com has since removed the item from its site, as was seen in a tweet from popular social media commentator Cameron Gray.
“2018 in one screenshot,” Gray tweeted, ever so succinctly.

Meanwhile, the company insisted in a statement: “Our corporate ideology is rooted in female empowerment, and gender empowerment overall.”

As for the aforementioned backlash, social justice warriors on the left were out front leading the charge.
We're now beyond satire. "Sexy" Handmaid's Tale outfit. There's nothing like fighting the patriarchy by sexualising a show about misogyny and rape. ht @bustle pic.twitter.com/aTaAsc0Zhf

“Sexy Handmaid’s Tale” is the most on-brand statement possible for this era’s thoroughly shameless misogynistic bullshit.

But other less uptight social media users did what they do best, they attacked the issue with a heavy dose of snark.
Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:

One recurring theme was for social media users to turn their angst on Yandy for being so quick to cave to hypersensitive liberals.

I wouldn’t have removed it from the store. People nowadays need to get a grip and so being so f*****g pathetic and get over it. It is a halloween costume ffs. Don’t apologise for them.

People seriously need to stop being so damn offended about everything right down to a flipping costume! I’m a feminist liberal but even I think this has gone a bit overboard. But now here I am being offended about offended people haha ? never ends

Liberals are joyless soulless smug self righteous scolds.
