Mike Pompeo appears on Fox News to drop blunt nine-word message for John Kerry

During an appearance Wednesday on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo shared a blunt nine-word message for his predecessor, John Kerry: “Stop it, let it go, you had your day.

The terse message was a response to Kerry’s admission last week that he and his political allies have been engaging in “rogue diplomacy” with Iran. What remains unclear is what exactly they’ve been telling the Iranians. According to intelligence officials who spoke with Fox News host Dana Perino, they’ve been telling the rogue nation’s officials to wait out the Trump presidency.

When asked by Perino during an interview last week whether this allegation holds merit, Kerry declined to offer a direct answer, instead saying, “Everybody in the world is sitting around talking about waiting out President Trump.”

Pompeo did not appreciate this.

Listen to Kerry below:

“This is a former secretary of state engaged with the world’s largest state sponsor of terror, and according to him, he was talking to them, he was telling them to wait out this administration,” he told Fox News’ host Laura Ingraham.

He added that it would be OK for the former secretary of state and his allies to speak with Iranian officials if they were “working for America, working for American foreign policy.” But they’re not, Pompeo maintained, arguing that they’re pursuing a foreign policy “that is theirs, not the one that belongs to the United States.”

“And they are not only unhelpful, but they are acting in ways that are harmful to achieving what’s best for the American people,” he continued. “That’s my criticism. Stop it, let it go. You had your day. We think you fundamentally got it wrong with Iran, and we’re trying to make it right for America.”

Listen:

During his tenure as secretary of state with the Obama administration, Kerry pursued a policy of constant appeasement with the Iranians, allowing them to run roughshod over the United States and in fact the world. Pompeo’s approach is the exact opposite.

“[We] are working to get Iran to behave like a normal nation. Right? Stop being the world’s largest state sponsor of terror. Stop launching missiles through proxies, stop attacking our embassies and consuls. When we get those basic things in place, President Trump’s made very clear we’d love Iran to rejoin the community of nations. But their revolutionary zeal causes them to be a bad actor, and they need to shape up. And if they do, we’ll get it right.”

It’s hard to force Iran to shape up, however, when former government officials like Kerry tell Iranian officials to just wait until another appeasement-friendly administration retakes the helm, as noted by President Donald Trump in a tweet:

Kerry of course denies that he’s a problem. His spokesperson specifically told Politico that he “stays in touch with his former counterparts around the world just like every previous secretary of state.”

Except never once in the history of the United States has a former secretary of secretary actively worked to undermine a current administration and empower its enemies. Never.
