President Trump threw down the gauntlet to the New York Times, daring the liberal newspaper to out the “gutless anonymous person” who wrote an anti-Trump op-ed, saying the Deep State operative poses a national security threat.
“Does the so-called “Senior Administration Official” really exist, or is it just the Failing New York Times with another phony source?” Trump tweeted. “If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her over to government at once!”

Hours later, President Trump reminded Americans that he is draining the swamp, just as he had promised. But as evidenced by the craven op-ed, the “swamp” is fighting back. But Trump vowed: “Don’t worry, we will win!”

Sarah Sanders also trashed the op-ed, where an anonymous “senior administration official” confirmed the existence of a Deep State at the highest levels of the government whose goal is to undermine and obstruct a sitting United States president.
The White House press secretary reminded the world that 62 million Americans voted for President Trump, so by obstructing his agenda, the Deep-State operative is subverting the will of the American people.
“The individual behind this piece has chosen to deceive, rather than support, the duly elected President of the United States,” Sanders wrote.
“He is not putting country first, but putting himself and his ego ahead of the will of the American people. This coward should do the right thing and resign.”

Fox News host Tucker Carlson echoed what millions of Americans believe, which is that President Trump is doing exactly what they hired him to do.
The fact that the mainstream media is again fomenting faux outrage over his brash demeanor is laughable because Trump never tried to hide his outspoken personality during his 40 years as a public figure.
“One of the most striking things about Trump is that he is almost exactly the same in person as he is on television — ask anyone who knows him,” Carlson said on his Fox News show. “There is no secret persona hidden behind the public face as there was with Barack Obama.”
Carlson continued: “Trump’s attempts to do what he promised to do on the campaign are not a travesty; they are a sign the system is working as designed. Politicians are supposed to respond to voters’ concerns. That is the basic — maybe the only measure — of success of a presidential administration: Did you do what voters sent you there to do?
“In Washington, that’s considered shocking. And that’s the real problem with this [New York Times] piece: The problem is that so many in our political class are disloyal to voters. The very people in charge of our democracy don’t believe in democracy. They don’t even hide it. That’s a problem. A big problem.”
While the mainstream media is covering the anonymous op-ed around-the-clock, the existence of an anti-Trump Deep State isn’t a surprise to millions of Americans.
In fact, it only reaffirms exactly why they voted for Donald Trump in the first place: To drain the corrupt Washington swamp.

The Intercept’s Glenn Greenwald, an attorney and lifelong liberal, summed it up best when he tweeted: “The irony in the op-ed from the NYT’s anonymous WH coward is glaring and massive: s/he accuses Trump of being “anti-democratic” while boasting of membership in an unelected cabal that covertly imposes their own ideology with zero democratic accountability, mandate or transparency.”
