Hannity excoriates ‘deep state actors’ behind NYT op-ed, undermining POTUS and American voters

Sean Hannity slammed the anonymous administration official who wrote an op-ed in the New York Times as one of many “deep state actors” trying to “destroy” President Donald Trump.

“We have unelected bureaucrats all over our nation’s capital,” Hannity said on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Wednesday. “They have been and continue to work actively to undermine your 2016 vote. They all think they know better than you, the American people. They think they know better than President Trump.”

The anonymous White House official and author of the op-ed claimed that “there were early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment” against Trump and that “many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.”

The president slammed the “gutless” op-ed and the New York Times.

“Who is this person? Where does this person work within the administration’s potentially hundreds of so-called senior officials in the executive branch? Does this person have access to top-secret information? Is there a national security risk?” Hannity asked in his opening monologue Wednesday.

“Now, of course, if he or she has a problem with the president, his agenda, they should quit immediately. But if they are going to undermine the president, and it deals with intelligence, sources, methods and national security, what if the president was talking about potentially having to go to war against an enemy? Are they going to undermine that, too?” Hannity continued. “Think about how profound and dangerous that could be in spite of the gutless and cowardly hiding behind what is swamp attacks that we get every day.”

But the Fox News host pointed out that there was an encouraging sign in the face of the controversial piece in the Times.

“On the bright side, the op-ed is a very good sign that the president is keeping his promise and every day he’s trying to drain the swamp and the sewer,” Hannity explained. “You see the swamp reacting this way. In the end, hear me out. This is great for the country because things need to change. And without a doubt, the good news is the president is keeping that promise.”

The author of the piece, according to Hannity is “nothing more than a swamp sewer creature who can’t stand that there is a new sheriff in town.”

He concluded with a scathing direct message to the author, with a reminder of who he or she is supposed to be serving in the White House job.

“Let me speak directly to the author of this article, whoever you or he or she may be. While you half acknowledged in the article that this isn’t about you, let’s be honest, it’s all about you and people like you. It’s about your obsessive-compulsive hatred of one man, the president. You are supposed to have, if you go into that White House every day or any of the surrounding buildings, you are supposed to serve your country and the agenda that the American people voted for,” Hannity said.

“So whoever you are, on top of everything else, you’re a liar,” he said. “So reveal yourself. Come on the show, have some guts, be courageous. Instead of hiding behind an anonymous column.”
