Candace Owens is grateful that President Donald Trump did the “most necessary thing” in this country by speaking the truth.
The Turning Point USA communications director lauded the president’s timely attack on “political correctness” in the nation and his willingness to “take the hits from the media,” in an appearance on Fox News’ “Life, Liberty & Levin” on Sunday.
“I think that what he did in this country was the most necessary thing by killing political correctness,” the young conservative said.
“Everybody was too politically correct to tell us that we were losing this country,” she added. “He stood up on a platform and he started telling the truth.”
Owens believes America would be suffering some of the same things as Europe if Trump had not been willing to be tough, citing the examples of his immigration policy enforcement and standing up for the African-American community.
“Standing on a platform and saying to black America, ‘what do you have to lose’ – having everyone in the media interpret that as racism when, in fact, what’s actually been happening to the black community is racism, the Democrat policies that have been inflicted in the black community are racist,” Owens said.
Trump is “producing results” she added.
In fact, the president’s popularity among African-Americans has continued to rise while the unemployment rate has steadily decreased.
In a brutal week of disastrous outcomes for the administration, with Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort being convicted on eight federal counts, and his ex-lawyer Michael Cohen pleading guilty on eight charges, the president’s approval rating did not even seem take a hit.
New polling from NBC News and The Wall Street Journal indicated the president’s approval rating stood at 46 percent.

“I absolutely love this president,” Owens told Levin on Sunday.
“His courage and his strength is what I admire,” she said, “and the results that he’s already brought to this country in the 18 months that he’s been in office.”
