There’s little wonder why Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are demonized in America, to include being called Nazis, when they can’t even catch a break from the media when apprehending an illegal alien wanted for murder.
Most media outlets have long since proven that they are sympathetic to migrants who illegally enter the U.S., but the reporting of Joel Arrona Lara being detained by immigration agents is most egregious.
The driving factor in many headlines was the fact that Lara was taking his wife to the hospital to have a baby, which rivals previous headlines that suggested agents “ripped” babies for their mother’s teats.
CBS Los Angeles’ coverage leads with this sentence, and fails to mention the charge of murder until it is sure you are sufficiently outraged by what I.C.E did.
A newborn is without his father Friday after immigration agents detained the man as he was taking his wife to deliver the baby.
“I feel very bad right now,” Maria del Carmen Venegas told CBS2 News in Spanish as she held her baby boy while still in her hospital gown.

Yes, wife Maria del Carmen Venegas was about to give birth, but was not in labor, as she was on her way to a scheduled cesarean section — murder warrant from Mexico notwithstanding.
And liberal journalists, like MSNBC’s Kyle Griffin, did not hesitate to exploit the facts in the case to tug at the heartstrings of caring Americans.
ICE detained a man while he was driving his pregnant wife to the hospital. He was taken when they stopped for gas.

Such irresponsible reporting is what led to police officers being assassinated in the streets of America, some argue.
Again and again, “reporters” pushed the story, with the outstanding murder warrant being downplayed.

The one-sided reporting carefully crafted to vilify President Trump’s “zero tolerance” toward illegal immigration prompted reactions such as this tweet: “But ICE is needed for homeland security!” Please tell me, for a society, what is worse than a gov agency that performed this kind of act? Their cruelty is outrageous and should be abolished. U don’t need this to be a country.”

And this: “This is despicable. Is this what our country has become, taking fathers away when driving their wife to the hospital to give birth? I’m disgusted.”

This sympathy coming from those who don’t bother to read beyond the headline, or simply don’t care that the father is suspected of murdering a fellow human being.
Lara has reportedly been in the U.S. for 12 years, and while the mother’s immigration status is unclear, because of outdated U.S. immigration laws, the child she gave birth to is a U.S. citizen.
Here’s a sampling of reactions from Twitter:
This is a great example of why the media has lost credibility. What possible justification can there be for multiple news organization omitting that the person ICE arrested was wanted for murder? pic.twitter.com/dtg2Jo2JsR

MSNBC dude fails to mention the man ICE detained is wanted on murder charges. Can’t imagine why trust in the media is at historic lows. https://t.co/sraRTfIUQe

The dude was wanted for murder… This is why people hate the media. https://t.co/hpvopoI3nt

The purpose of this story is to evoke sympathy for persons illegally in our country who willfully broke our laws, and stir anger towards those who enforce our legitimate immigration laws as if they are brutal nazis. I’m neither sympathetic nor angry. https://t.co/b55NjJRk5P
