‘Dear Nancy, it’s not about you’: Cali paper publishes scathing editorial, tells Pelosi to ‘forget being speaker’

Though a host of Democrats have expressed their opposition to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi being reelected as speaker in case they win the House in November, the stubborn senior remains convinced that only she and she alone has what it takes to lead the party.

This raises an important question: What on Earth would it take to convince this insane woman to back off already and let the next generation take over?

While the answer to that questions remains unknown, one possibility popped up this week when the entire editorial board for The Sacramento Bee penned an op-ed practically begging Pelosi to call it a night already.

“Dear Nancy Pelosi: It’s not about you, it’s about your party and country. Forget being speaker,” the headline to their scathing piece read.

“It’s getting close to crunch time, and the San Francisco Democrat must put her party and her country ahead of her personal ambition and declare that she will not seek the speakership again,” they wrote.

Why? Because she’s a drag on the party, they argued. She’s also an easy target for GOP congressional nominees and President Donald Trump. All Republicans have to do to drum up support for them and animosity for the Democrats is run ads that remind the American people that the Democrat Party is the party of Nancy Pelosi.

Here’s one such ad:

“Pelosi says that while no one is indispensable, she is still the best person for the job,” the Bee’s editorial board continued. “If you’ll recall, similar statements were made about the eminently qualified Hillary Clinton – and we know how that turned out.”

Ouch. Failed Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton wound up being completely walloped in the 2016 election, losing to Trump by 77 electoral votes.

“Pelosi and other party leaders are trying to get the message out that not only will Democrats oppose Trump and his culture of ‘corruption, cronyism and incompetence,’ they are ‘for the people’ and will push for better health care and more jobs. But the political reality is that she is not the most effective messenger.”

No kidding?

The Bee’s editorial board concluded their editorial by arguing that “if she truly believes what she says about how important it is for Democrats to retake the House so they can stop Trump, she must accept that it can’t be with her as speaker.”

Will this brave message penetrate her thick skull, though? That remains to be seen.
