Philly mayor’s obnoxious ‘happy dance’ for sanctuary city status comes back to BITE when horrifying news surfaces

Thanks to Philadelphia’s longtime refusal to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities, an illegal immigrant from Honduras had the opportunity to rape an American child.

While that illegal immigrant, Juan Ramon Vasquez, is rightfully now serving 8 to 20 years in state prison, the fact remains he would’ve never had the chance to rape a child had Philadelphia complied with immigration authorities, as noted Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.

“It could have been prevented and it should have been prevented. We owe the American people better. I mean this is a perfect example of when jurisdictions decide not to cooperate with federal law enforcement. We put our communities at risk,” she said Wednesday night on Fox News’ “Hannity.”

ICE agents first deported Vasquez in 2009. He turned up again five years later in Philadelphia, where local authorities arrested him on local criminal charges. But when ICE officials placed a detainer on him at the time, demanding he be transferred into their custody for illegal reentry after deportation, local officials refused, opting instead to release him back into the streets.

“After his release, the defendant was rearrested and convicted for rape of a child and unlawful sexual contact with a minor. The defendant is currently serving a sentence of 8 to 20 years in state prison,” the Department of Justice noted in a press release posted Tuesday.

Instead of reversing course on its “sanctuary city” policies after the child’s rape, Philadelphia has since only doubled down. Just last month Mayor Jim Kenney announced that he wouldn’t renew a contract that had allowed ICE authorities access to the city’s law enforcement database, known as PARS.

“I cannot in good conscience allow the agreement to continue,” the mayor said at a press conference, arguing that ICE had been abusing the database by using it to conduct investigations and lock up those in violation of America’s federal immigration laws. “All of us have ancestors who were once immigrants. All of us.”

A month before that he burst into a “happy dance” after a federal judge ruled that the Trump administration cannot cut off grants to the city over its “sanctuary city” policies.

It’s clear that Kenney is among the many truth-averse Democrats in America who are unable to differentiate between illegal aliens and legal immigrants. He’s also among those complicit in every single rape and/or murder of a bonafide American citizen.

Social media users made certain to point this out to him:

Just to be clear, Kenney assumed office at the start of 2016, two years after the rape occurred.  Because the mayor continues to champion the kinds of policies that led to the child’s rape, however, he’s just as complicit as the city’s past mayors — if not more-so, since only God knows how many other rapes (and even murders) will occur at the hands of illegal criminals in the coming years.
