Tom Fitton: ‘The DoJ should protect President Trump from continued harassment and shut Mueller down’

Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, Fox News anchor Gregg Jarrett and Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton all agree: Special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russian probe has gone way out-of-bounds and needs to be put in place, preferably by the Justice Department.

Speaking together Saturday evening on “Justice with Judge Jeanine” about Mueller’s latest actions — last week marked the eventful start of President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort’s trial — the three were unanimous in their disdain for the special counsel.

“He’s trying to justify his existence so he can continue to be around the operation generally to target President Trump,” Fitton started off, referring both to Mueller’s prosecution of Manafort for crimes completely unrelated to Trump, and also news that he’s now seeking to speak with Kristin Davis, a former Madam who previously worked for Trump’s former adviser Roger Stone.

“What an outrage. This is not what anyone signed up for, and the idea that he’s allowed to do this fishing expedition is an egregious abuse of justice and the rule of law. Someone’s got to reign Mueller in.”

Jarrett agreed, noting, “[I]t’s completely abusive by both the unscrupulous Robert Mueller and his team of partisans, as well as Rod Rosenstein. … This just underscores that the president should not be interviewed by Robert Mueller.”

“Mueller doesn’t care about the truth. He doesn’t care about justice,” he added, pointing to the way Mueller treated former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. “So if the president sits down with Mueller and tells the truth, Mueller will file a report with Congress saying the president is lying. It doesn’t matter what Trump says.”

Fitton wholeheartedly concurred: “I don’t think the President should cooperate in helping Mueller write his impeachment report, and as Greg notes it’s thoroughly corrupted.”

“The whole superstructure has been corrupted by Peter Strzok, by Steele, the Clinton DNC dossier, Comey sealing records to get Mueller appointed, Mueller’s conflicts, the partisanship of the prosecutors he has. The Justice Department should protect President Trump from this continued harassment and shut Mueller down. No other prosecutor would be allowed to harass the president with questions about issues that he can’t be indicted on. This is just crazy.”

Jarrett continued the discussion by noting that, even though Trump wants to sit with Mueller so as to proclaim his innocence, the special counselor has no legal right to question him: “Mueller does not have the appetite to subpoena the president because he knows he would lose in federal court.”

Fitton concluded the discussion by revealing Judicial Watch’s latest findings. He explained that according to recently obtained FBI documents, in 2016 the Obama administration issued 11 payments to Christopher Steele, the former British spy hired by the Democrats to dig up dirt on Trump.

“They met with him 13 times in 2016. Eleven of those visits ended in cash going out to Steele, it looks like,” he said.

Stunning. Absolutely stunning. Yet, the mainstream media will likely not report this.
