For people who complain so incessantly about President Donald Trump’s alleged attacks on their First Amendment rights, the so-called “journalists” in the mainstream media seem awfully hellbent on attacking other people’s free speech rights.
While many examples have surfaced, the latest one involves the media demanding that the Newseum — a 21-year-old museum designed “to increase public understanding of the importance of a free press and the First Amendment” — stop selling pro-Trump gear.
According to CNN, the Newseum is currently selling “Make America Great Again” hats and “You Are Very Fake News” T-shirts. This is problematic because these items are disrespectful to the media, and disrespect for the media simply can’t be tolerated.
“[T]he Newseum gift shop offers something alarming,” warned CNN’s Hadas Gold in an ominous post published Friday evening, adding that “[f]or many the Newseum is a place to foster free speech and celebrate the press — not a place to sell a cheap joke.”
“It’s a phrase now being used by authoritarian regimes around the world to justify their actions limiting freedom of the press,” she added, conveniently ignoring the fact that the “fake news” moniker/insult was invented by left-wing media “journalists” just like her.
As noted by Fox News Radio host Tom Shillue this week, the leftist media invented the term in a bid to smear and eventually silence all conservative publishers. But when the president successfully turned the weapon around on the media, they freaked out.
Listen to Shillue below:
And now that the Newseum has chosen to co-opt the phrase as well, the media are again losing their minds, never mind the fact that the museum exists for the sole purpose of promoting free speech.
“The mission of the Newseum is to champion freedom of the press along with all the freedoms of the First Amendment, so being a place where people of different viewpoints feel welcome is very important,” museum spokeswoman Sonya Gavanka said in a statement.
“All the merchandise in our store goes through a vetting process. Of course, we’re well aware of the political temperature in the country, but we will continue to be a nonpartisan organization that champions the rights of all to free speech.”
The key word there was nonpartisan, something that the media hasn’t been in decades. Just observe how the allegedly non-biased media reacted on social media to the Newseum’s statement:

This t-shirt doesn’t belong anywhere. It particularly doesn’t belong at the @Newseum, a place that celebrates journalism and has the First Amendment etched in stone outside its building. https://t.co/7ecmjcGOyq pic.twitter.com/AhEgRVA7wE

A “You Are Fake News” t-shirt costs $19.97, at an institution that is literally exists to “to increase public understanding of the importance of a free press and the First Amendment.” pic.twitter.com/AcgrriHTwK

I won’t be visiting @Newseum ever again. I won’t be recommending it to visitors, and I will not be taking my family and friends there ever again.

The Newseum is funded by Networks and their parent companies, and philanthropic orgs—all with employees who devote their lives and livelihoods to stand for everything that is *not* fake news. This is unwise and I encourage the Newseum to rethink this. It’s an insult. https://t.co/al2SJQ5iH5

No fucking way @Newseum
You sell “Fake News” shirts and call it part of your commitment to free speech?
No. Just no. https://t.co/wzqwx32jR9

The hypocrisy is simply stunning …
But thank you dearly, media “journalists,” for again proving you’re nothing but partisan hacks and again demonstrating why so many Americans can’t stand your pompous arrogance anymore. Well done!
Again, for people who complain so much about Trump — and all because he’s turned the term “fake news” on them — the so-called “journalists” in the mainstream media are always so astoundingly eager to shut down other people’s free speech rights. It’s both ironic and sad.
