New poll shows Americans think Dem Party is pulling far away from mainstream USA, has leftists baffled

As Democrats ramp up their rhetoric and unhinged hatred of President Donald Trump, it seems Americans are taking notice.

The majority of voters surveyed in a new poll conducted by NBC News and The Wall Street Journal declared that the Democrat Party is “out of step” with America.

Added to the party’s myriad problems are the latest poll numbers showing only 33 percent of respondents think the Democratic Party is “in the mainstream” while 56 percent think that Democrats are “generally out of step with most Americans’ thinking.”

“Just two years ago in 2016, those numbers were far different: 48 percent mainstream, 42 percent out. That means the ‘mainstream’ number has plunged 12.5 percent, a huge drop in just two years,” Joseph Curl wrote in an op-ed for The Washington Times, calling the Democrat Party a “rudderless ship.”

With no strong leader as the face of the party and no universal platform other than hatred of anything related to Trump, Democrats have been struggling to find their voice. Leaders like Rep. Maxine Waters calling for violence against members of the president’s cabinet and upstart New York Congressional nominee Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pushing socialism have alienated regular Americans.

As for the more established members of the party, age becomes a glaring factor when they are sized up, with Rep. Nancy Pelosi at 78, Sen. Bernie Sanders at 76,  Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who is 69, and even 67-year-old Sen. Chuck Schumer. Two-time failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is no spring chicken either at 70 years old and still grumbling over her 2016 loss to Trump.

Touting the party’s new slogan, “A Better Deal,” Ocasio-Cortez joined Sanders to campaign for House candidates in Kansas last week. The only problem is, the push for free stuff with the socialist mind-set is further dividing Democrats.

According to Curl in the Washington Post:

Suddenly, and perhaps not surprisingly, a whole bunch of moderate Democrats are getting worried. They don’t want the party to embrace the socialist pitch — toward which some Democrats have been moving for nearly two years — and warn that if they do, the party will crash and burn in 2020.

Then there’s this: Democrats gathered in Ohio last week for a conference organized by the center-left think tank Third Way. The group spent a year taking the pulse of rank-and-file Democrats and came away with one key finding: Socialism doesn’t sell.

All of the factors have not seemed to change the rhetoric from the left as the anti-Trump narrative continues to churn. To add to their woes, Democrats try to grasp how the president continues to see his approval numbers rise despite all the negative media coverage.

“The more Trump gets criticized by the media, the more his base seems to rally behind him,” Democratic pollster Fred Yang, who co-conducted the poll, said.

No telling if Democrats will wake up in time to the real reason behind their failures.
