Ocasio-Cortez calls on Dems to ‘flip this seat red in November.’ Video sparks questions.

An embarrassing misstatement by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has earned the progressive darling ridicule from all sides.

The far left New York candidate, who unseated Democratic  Rep. Joe Crowley in New York’s 14th congressional district, seemed to forget what party she was campaigning for in a stop supporting Brent Welder, who is running for Congress in Kansas’s third district.

Campaigning alongside Sen. Bernie Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez made the gaffe which was then shared by the Vermont senator on his Twitter account.

“Hello, everybody! So excited to be here on Sen. Sanders’ account and we’re here in Kansas City to rally for Brent Welder,” Ocasio-Cortez said.. “We’re gonna flip this seat red in November.”

Sanders’ account made no mention of party colors in the caption.

Welder is looking to unseat Rep. Kevin Yoder, a Republican, in the district and perhaps that was on Ocasio-Cortez’s mind when she spoke, confusing the red color associated with the GOP and the blue color signifying the Democrat party.

But the unfortunate mistake, coming from a self-identified Democratic Socialist, had many wondering about the connection of the color red to the communist party.

The gaffe by the woman touted as the rising voice of the Democratic Party follows on the heels of several other embarrassing remarks and interviews where she appeared to struggle with communicating, flubbing one question on Israel’s “occupation” of the Palestinian territories as she admitted she didn’t really know what she was talking about.

Twitter handed out a collective award for Ocasio-Cortez’s error -or Freudian slip – and served Sanders with some ridicule as well.
