London owner changes name of pub for Trump’s visit, plans grand celebration to welcome him

One London pub owner is on a mission to thank President Donald Trump and let him know the city’s mayor does not speak for everyone.

Damien Smyth is temporarily changing the name of his pub, The Jameson to “The Trump Arms” to celebrate the U.S. president’s visit to the UK next week. Breitbart reported.

The Hammersmith pub owner is also planning a “Welcome Trump” party “to show solidarity with the U.S. people and the President.”

“We’re the greatest friends in the world and natural buddies,” Smyth told Breitbart London. “We want to show solidarity. We want to thank Trump for making the world safe again.”

The West London landlord, who is originally from Ireland and is married to a New Yorker, wants to be sure Trump knows that the British  “are not all crazy protesters.”

“It’s so important to let people know we’re old family and old friends,” Smyth said.

Th party is planned for Saturday July 14 as Trump arrives in the UK Friday as part of a wider European trip. Patrick Sullivan, the organizer behind The Art of the Party, which pays homage to Trump’s bestselling novel “The Art of the Deal,” has been inundated with support for the event.

“The number of Trump supporters is quite something,” Sullivan said. “There is interest coming from up and down the country.”

Noting that Trump is “more in tune with real Brits,” Sullivan wanted the message to get out that  London’s leftist Mayor Sadiq Khan is not representative of the people.

“We wanted to show that the negative press put out by Sadiq Khan doesn’t represent the whole of London or the country,” Sullivan told Breitbart.

The city’s Muslim mayor, who has been a vocal critic of Trump as the two have engaged in a war of words since last year, had called for the president’s trip to be cancelled and said he was “not welcome” to the city.

Khan has now given his approval for a “Trump baby” inflatable balloon to fly over London next week as the president visits.

Brexit leader Nigel Farage blasted the move to allow the 19-foot balloon to fly over British parliament as the “biggest insult to a sitting U.S. president ever.”

“Let me ask you, does any of you seriously think that if an application to fly an Obama blimp, of Obama as a young, crying baby above Parliament Square when he came here during the referendum to tell us to vote remain, do you actually think that would have been allowed?” he asked on his LBC radio show.

A counter-protest campaign has also reportedly been launched to fly a “baby Khan” balloon at the same time.

“President Donald J. Trump has Made America Great Again and has Made the World Safe Again,” the Trump party website states. “The FAKE NEWS Media would have you believe that we don’t like President Trump in this country but that is because they never speak to REAL voters.”

“This is real Britain,” Sullivan said. “Real London. This is what the mainstream media fails to cover so often. All they portray to the rest of the world is the ‘Westminster Bubble’” — the British equivalent of the Washington, D.C., ‘Swamp’.
