FOX News ratings trounce competition. Despite ‘boycotts,’ Laura Ingraham lands best month ever

Fox News Channel’s decision to back its host Laura Ingraham against boycott attempts has been rewarded with “The Ingraham Angle” posting its best month ever in June.

The show delivered its highest-rated month since it launched back in October, with an average of  2.654 million viewers and 544,000 in the important adults age 25-54 demographic. In addition, Fox News dominated the field as the most-watched cable news network, leading all of basic cable among total viewers for the eighth straight quarter.

“The Ingraham Angle” left competition in the dust as one of the top five cable news programs in total viewers and the demo despite another failed attempt by  leftist-activist David Hogg to launch an advertiser boycott following Ingraham’s comments on the separation of children and parents at the U.S. southern border.

The network defended Ingraham, stating it would “never tolerate or give in to attempts to silence diverse viewpoints by agenda-driven intimidation efforts.”

The most-watched cable news network for 66 consecutive quarters according to Nielsen Media Research, Fox News thumped competitors with 1.4 million total day viewers compared to MSNBC’s 930,000 and CNN’s 658,000.

The network scored 286,000 in the 25-54 adult age demographic as well, compared to MSNBC’s 196,000 and CNN with 202,000.

Fox News led the way in primetime as well, with 2.447 million total viewers and 480,000 in the 25-54 demographic, while CNN struggled to break the one million mark, averaging an audience of only 929,000 viewers.

The network captured 10 of the top 15 cable news programs in total viewers and eight of the top 15 in the 25-54 demo.

The most-watched program in all of cable news, “Hannity,” averaged 3.4 million total viewers making it the best month for the show since it returned to its 9 p.m. time slot.

The top five in total viewers and the age demographic were:

Total Viewers: Hannity (3,368,000), The Rachel Maddow Show (2,752,000), Tucker Carlson Tonight (2,697,000), The Ingraham Angle (2,654,000), The Five (2,233,000)

Adults 25-54: Hannity (685,000), The Rachel Maddow Show (559,000), The Ingraham Angle (544,000), Tucker Carlson Tonight (541,000), Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell (419,000)

Fox News’ signature morning show, “Fox & Friends” saw 200 consecutive months as the most-watched morning show in cable news, scoring 1.548 million in total viewers and 329,000 in the 25-54 demo. In the rest of the day, “Outnumbered” at 12 p.m. posted 1.492 million in total viewers while “Your World with Neil Cavuto” at 4 p.m. posted 1.416 million.

While Fox News Channel finished on top in basic cable rankings for total day viewers, MSNBC came in second followed by Nickelodeon, TNT, HGTV and Investigation Discovery. CNN trailed in seventh position and, during primetime, fell further – finishing tenth overall.
