The Daily Wire editor Ben Shapiro, a frequent Trump critic, slammed Washington Post blogger Max Boot for callously comparing today’s GOP under President Trump to WWII-era Nazism.
“If you think today’s Republican Party resembles Japanese fascism or Nazism, Trump has driven you utterly mad,” Shapiro tweeted. Shapiro, an attorney who graduated from Harvard Law, is an Orthodox Jew.
The controversy erupted after Boot slammed the GOP, saying it has devolved from “a conservative party with a white-nationalist fringe” to a “white-nationalist party with a conservative fringe.”
Boot made the bombastic comments while pandering for page views for his opinion column.
He wrote, “After a lifetime as a Republican, I re-registered as an independent on the day after Donald Trump’s election. Like postwar Germany and Japan, the Republican Party must first be destroyed before it can be rebuilt.”
Boot then called for a “Democratic takeover of both houses of Congress” at the November midterm elections. In response to Shapiro’s criticism, Boot insisted he didn’t mean to compare the GOP to Nazis.

Boot wrote, “The GOP is a sick institution that needs to be rebuilt from ground up.”
Um, that’s exactly what Donald Trump has been saying all along; in fact, he ran on that platform.
Not what I said. I don’t mean GOP=Nazis just as I don’t mean that it should be carpet-bombed. Shld be obvious what I meant: GOP is a sick institution that needs to be rebuilt from ground up. Just like if you said “Trump is crazy like a fox” you’re not saying he’s a furry animal. https://t.co/ar7RXUPw67

Max Boot joins a large contingent of liberals suffering from acute Trump Derangement Syndrome.
In their hyberbolic attempts to slam President Trump, they repeatedly call him and his supporters Nazis without realizing that casually throwing the epithet around trivializes the horrors that Jews suffered during the Holocaust.
For years, Jews have asked liberals to stop marginalizing and trivializing the Holocaust and Nazism by invoking it whenever they want to insult someone. You’re embarrassing and discrediting yourself.
Israel Embassy: 'No comparison can be made with the Nazi Holocaust in which 6 million Jews were massacred solely because they were Jewish.'

Actor James Woods unleashed an epic smackdown on Boots.
The Republican Party was already destroyed by burrowing parasites like you. It is in fact being rebuilt by a president who actually loves this nation. Happy Fourth! https://t.co/HuGkFk2exu

Ben Shapiro, a Never-Trumper who frequently criticizes President Trump, has been attacked by liberals whenever he defends Trump.
Joshua Topolsky, a contributor to Vox media, compared Shapiro to a Jewish Nazi collaborator during World War II. Topolsky, who’s also Jewish, deleted the tweet amid volcanic backlash on social media.
I wonder why Vox co-founder @joshuatopolsky deleted this tweet.

In response, Shapiro quipped to Fox News (video above): “I’ve been called worse by better. The way the left works these days is that anyone who disagrees with them is a Nazi.”
