In a now too familiar scenario, a woman claimed she had warned police that the Capital Gazette shooting suspect would be “your next mass shooter.”
The woman, whose name was not released, claimed that Jarrod W. Ramos had stalked her years before and she had warned a former police official that “he will be your next mass shooter,” WBAL-TV reported.

The 38-year-old gunman allegedly stormed into the Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Md., on Thursday, killing five staff members.
“He’s a f—— nut job,” the woman had described the suspect.

She told Jayne Miller, an investigative reporter at WBAL, that Ramos had become “fixated” on her for no apparent reason. The situation caused her to move three times and to change her name. Out of fear, the woman said, she was sleeping with a gun.
Woman who was stalked, harassed, sued, and scared away to another state by suspect in fatal shooting of 5 at Capital Gazette in Annapolis told me he became, for no obvious reason, “fixated” with her..caused her to move 3x, changed her name, and now sleeps with a gun.

Unfortunately, it is becoming more common to hear of the post-shooting reports of “warnings” by people afraid of a suspect’s behavior or demeanor which seemed to go unheeded by law enforcement or others who may have acted to prevent the tragedies. This was recently seen in Florida where multiple incidents with Parkland mass-shooter Nikolas Cruz were not followed up on by police and FBI before he opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, killing 17 people.
“This individual had some type of vendetta against The Capital newspaper and they were specifically targeted,” Anne Arundel County police Lt. Ryan Frashure said, according to WBAL.
Ramos was charged with five counts of first-degree murder.
Twitter users were angered to find there were warning signs – again – before the tragedy that may have prevented the deaths.
siiiigh, they’ve always been warned. Then they blame the gun

She called it…as most people do of these shooters… people need to listen.

He didn’t commit offences that were federal. The local PD handled it.

You would be amazed at how difficult it is to put a stalker behind bars.

And nothing was done, he roamed free while she lived in fear.

So this man was mentally deranged, a stalker, yet never detained by police, and took his anger out at the newspaper who printed about his harassment. Huge fail on many levels.

Feels totally preventable. If not with current laws then w/ laws both sides should agree on. When there’s credible threats and dangers we should be able to temporarily suspend ability to own firearms till law enforcement fully vet/clear. Tired of these guys being on radar.

.horrific. And I think this type of stalking/harassment is more common than we know. Victims stay silent and under radar out of fear – few believe them. I hope she sleeps a bit better knowing he is in custody.

She sleeps with a gun, because 911 with the best intentions won’t save her life
