ABC has decided to go ahead with a spinoff show of “Roseanne” without Roseanne Barr – and fans are not happy about it.
A 10-episode series, tentatively called “The Conners,” has been given the go-ahead by ABC for the fall of 2018, airing in the same Tuesday 8 PM time slot where hit show “Roseanne” was scheduled before the network cancelled it and fired Barr, its star and executive producer, after controversial tweets.

“The Conners’ stories demonstrate that families can always find common ground through conversation, laughter and love. The spinoff will continue to portray contemporary issues that are as relevant today as they were 30 years ago,” ABC said in a statement.

Barr, who came under fire for a tweet calling former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood and “Planet of the Apes.” Despite apologizing, Barr was dropped from her talent agency and ABC abruptly cancelled the network’s highest-rated show.
The new spinoff will have no input from Barr, instead continuing on with the rest of the cast, after she reached a settlement with series producer Tom Werner to save the jobs of those involved with the show.
“I regret the circumstances that have caused me to be removed from Roseanne,” Barr said in a statement. “I agreed to the settlement in order that 200 jobs of beloved cast and crew could be saved, and I wish the best for everyone involved.”
But without its namesake character, the spinoff show is already creating controversy with fans who are adamant it will fail.
Roseanne without Roseanne is just like Diamond without Silk; It won’t work!

I know they’ve lost me ! I will not watch one minute of this sellout show. #TheConners @therealroseanne made that show what it was all the way around. Period.

@therealroseanne Ha ha ABC is wasting their money. They are doomed before they even start it. I have been reading..NO ONE is going to watch it. To all the rest of the actors on the show, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Roseanne Barr MADE YOU ALL. Without her you are nothing.
— Kathy Malaspina (@malaspina_kathy) June 22, 2018
@ABCNetwork: There’s no Roseanne show without @therealroseanne. You can rename it all you want, but no-one will care. Who even cares about Darlene/@THEsaragilbert anyways? Without Roseanne, the show deserves to fail. Bye, Felicia. #Roseanne #BoycottABC

And many more are demanding to know why Barr, whose conservative character openly supported President Trump, was canned and a ratings hit show cancelled while actor Peter Fonda has reaped no consequences from Sony Pictures for his vulgar attack on Trump’s young son, Barron.

The 78-year-old actor called for the 12-year-old to be “ripped” from Melania’s arms and put in a cage “with pedophiles,” in tweets posted this week, prompting outrage on Twitter and calls for consequences.
Does @SonyPictures care when their actors threaten to rape children?

No They Don’t. Unlike what happened to @therealroseanne, @iamfonda wont face any consequences & of course @sonyclassics will still release his movie as planned. If you needed more verification of the double standard here’s the perfect example. RT & let them know your thoughts https://t.co/BlY9Cr9tF8

Yet Sony Pictures still plans to go forward with Pig Peter Fonda, who advocated for the kidnapping & rape of 11 year olds. https://t.co/Jea70rTqME

The only thing to learn on Twitter is that, as long as you’re a liberal and you hate Trump, you can do or say whatever you want, with no consequence. I see blue check liberals spewing vile hatred every day on here. So, if you’re on Twitter to learn, that’s part of your issue.

I am sick to death of the hypocrisy. Roseanne’s tweet although misunderstood, cost her a lot. Peter’s tweet was disgusting, even his having the thought of a child being sent in with pedophiles is unforgivable. Yet his career goes untouched. I have a huge problem with this BS

The verdict – and death sentence – seems to already be in for the ABC spinoff of “Roseanne” without Barr.
“The Connors” will fail without Roseanne. The same idiots who didn’t understand “Roseanne’s” success won’t understand this new show’s futility.
— Marc Rudov (@MarcRudov) June 22, 2018
It just shows how petty ABC was in canceling the @therealroseanne reboot because they couldn’t allow a conservative leaning actress to have a #1 show. @ABCNetwork and all her costars jumped on the bus and ran her over so fast, you have to wonder if this was planned.
— Jim Covfefe ?????? (@jhazlett24) June 22, 2018
Someone should now create a new #Roseanne TV show where it stars @therealroseanne on her own because her while family stabbed her in the back. #traders #boycottTheConnorFamily
— David Thomas (@nasfatman) June 22, 2018
Who the hell would watch The Conners without Roseanne? What a moronic load of crap from the geniuses at @ABC. #BoycottABC #IStandWithRoseanne PS. Roseanne will go on to something better. Trust me.
