U.S. Border Patrol agents rescued a 6-year-old child who was abandoned in excruciating desert summer heat on a border road in Arizona, according to a Thursday report.
The child was found on a road near the border Tuesday by himself in temperatures over 100 degrees, according to the border patrol agents. The child who was reportedly on his way to see his mother in the U.S. told the agents that “his uncle” dropped him off in the extreme heat in hopes that he would be picked up by Border Patrol, Fox 5 reported.
The six-year-old child was reportedly found in good condition despite “the merciless environment for those unprepared for its remote, harsh terrain and unpredictable weather,” according to Border Patrol agents. He was taken to Tucson, Ariz. where he was evaluated and processed.
The Border Patrol told Fox 5 that this is a prime example of the dangers of illegal immigrants trusting smugglers to get them into the U.S.
This comes as President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday which would temporarily end family separations at the border
