Fox News host Laura Ingraham is being slammed for saying the detention centers for illegal-alien children are “essentially summer camps” because they provide free housing, food, education, and entertainment while they got processed.
Liberals have accused Ingraham of being uncaring about Latin American children while blithely ignoring the fact that she is the adoptive mom of three children, including a little girl from Guatemala. Spin that, libs.
The controversy erupted after Ingraham said the following during her monologue: “Consistent with American law, when the parties arrested, your children are either sent to relatives or they become wards of the state. Since more illegal immigrants are rushing the border, more kids are being separated from their parents and temporarily housed in what are essentially summer camps or, as the San Diego Union Tribune described them…basically “boarding schools.”
Ingraham continued: “Having lost the argument, and frankly the last election, liberals have seized on the ‘separated children’ and turned the entire image into a political weapon, attempting to emotionally mutilate the public’s perception of immigration enforcement.”
She went to say: “Apparently, there are a lot of people very upset because we referred to some of the detention facilities tonight as essentially like summer camps. Well, the “San Diego Union Tribune” today described the facilities as essentially like what you would expect at a boarding school.”
Ingraham essentially told her critics to put their money where their mouths are.
“And I suggest that a lot of the folks who are worried about that spend more time in Central America. I have. And we should make adoption easier for American couples who want to adopt these kids. Who are true candidates for adoption because our policies don’t allow that. So let’s put our hearts out there for the kids in the right way. Take care of them the right way. Open your hearts and your homes to them.”
Fox News released a statement late Tuesday:
“Laura Ingraham’s very personal, on-the-ground commitment to the plight of impoverished and abandoned children—specifically in Guatemala— speaks for itself. So too does her strong belief in a commonsense, legal immigration system, which will continue to be a focus of her show. FOX News will never tolerate or give in to attempts to silence diverse viewpoints by agenda-driven intimidation efforts.”
As BizPac Review has reported, 83% of the children who illegally cross the U.S. southern border are unaccompanied because their parents in most cases paid money to human traffickers to escort the kids to America.
So the kids were already “separated” before reaching the U.S. border, thanks to their own parents.
So, we now know:
1) 10,000 of 12,000 children in custody crossed alone, unaccompanied
2) Massive increase in fraudulent “family” crossings
3) Massive increase in fraudulent asylum claims.
And we wonder why detention facilities are crowded? https://t.co/O6DY9XU6bn

Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar admitted that the Obama administration covered up the child migrant crisis at the Southern border and the media largely turned a blind eye.
“It was kept very quiet under the Obama Administration,” Cuellar said. “There were large numbers of people coming in. The Obama administration was trying to keep this quiet.”
Cuellar also said that many of the adults who accompany the minors aren’t even the kid’s parents, adding that the government was scammed over the years.
“Under the law, you can separate a child if the adult is not the real parent…because sometimes we see situations where they’ll bring a child because they know of the policy that we have over here,” Cuellar said.
Despite some liberal crackpots comparing the child detention centers to Nazi concentration camps, the conditions there are humane, and much better than what the children experienced back home in Central America.
And the detention centers are certainly much-improved from what they were during the 8-year Obama administration.

Media tell us @realDonaldTrump is keeping kids in “cages.” The facility I visited is a dormitory with a school, clinic, and outdoor recreation. They give them new clothes .They have field trips to parks & zoos. They even had a “prom.” Sad situation but not what we have been told.
