DHS secretary scolds ‘irresponsible’ media for one fact they are purposely hiding on border separations

Department of Homeland Security Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen slammed “misreporting” about the Trump administration enforcing an immigration policy of separating children from parents illegally crossing the U.S. border.

Nielsen fired back at the liberal hysteria over an Obama-era policy that has President Trump at the center of attacks over the family separation policy.

Nielsen called for truthful reporting on the distinction between those arriving at ports of entry seeking asylum and those who are caught crossing the U.S. border illegally.

The comments by the DHS Secretary were in response to backlash over Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ new “zero-tolerance” policy of enforcing immigration laws at the border. And while family separations occurred during former President Obama’s eight years in office, the latest narrative is intent on pinning Trump with the shame of allegedly “ripping” children out of their parents’ arms.

Nielsen doubled down on the fact that children are separated when the adults have broken the law.

The secretary addressed the media reports in a speech as well, warning “Don’t believe the press.”

Nielsen’s definitive statement that there is no family separating policy drew even more fire from the left.

Many responded to Nielsen’s tweets with support, defending the law and the DHS’ s enforcement.
