Former U.S. Director of National Intelligence James Clapper agreed with CNN anchor Chris Cuomo that former NBA star Dennis Rodman knows President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un better than anyone, shortly after the two leaders met Tuesday.

After an emotional interview between Rodman and Cuomo on CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time,” Cuomo asked Clapper if he believes Rodman is the best resource that the U.S. has to heal relations between North Korea and the U.S. in Trump’s efforts to denuclearize the country. Clapper agreed with Cuomo and told him that there was “a lot more depth there than meets the eye” in regards to Rodman.

“Looking at the moments earlier, it is bizarre to say the least, here I am with former director of the government, and Dennis Rodman, always known as the worm for how he played basketball. He is our best resource at this point for understanding the minds of the two men, especially Kim Jong Un,” Cuomo said to the former NIA director.

“I agree, Chris,” Clapper said. In which Cuomo said, “As weird as that is to say.”

“This whole thing is unconventional. And I saw a Dennis Rodman that I have never seen before. And you drew that out of him. A lot more depth there than meets the eye,” Clapper continued.

Trump and Kim are set to finish their historic meeting Tuesday afternoon.
