Wife of deportee shocks CNN host: ‘I can’t be mad at Trump for doing his job … to protect us US citizens’

Cindy Garcia did not fit the liberal narrative that CNN may have been aiming for when she defended President Trump in spite of having her husband deported.

The U.S. citizen seemed to surprise CNN’s Brooke Baldwin by coming to the defense of the president and the rule of law.

Garcia could not fault Trump for “doing his job,” she told Baldwin, who asked about her views after playing a video of the family crying as Jorge Garcia was taken away for deportation.

“Yes, I am not upset at our government due to the fact that I am a U.S. citizen and that our laws come first,” Garcia said, noting that the Mexican life has “taken a toll” on her husband who has lost 30 pounds since leaving the U.S.

“Our laws are just broken and need to be fixed, but I can’t be mad at Trump for doing his job because that is his job to protect us, as U.S. citizens, from criminals,” Garcia added. “The only thing is my husband was not a criminal and those are the laws that need to be fixed because they are broken for the people … brought as children, doing the right thing, and have never committed a crime.”

Baldwin seemed taken aback.

“A lot of people would be critical of this administration and I’m not hearing criticism from you,” she said.

The CNN host asked the wife and mother if she had spoken yet to the White House about the case for her husband, whom she has been married to for 15 years.

“No, at this time I have not had any news from the White House. We are in the process of trying to get our appointment in Juarez to see what [Citizenship and Immigration Service’s] decision is when we go. Hopefully it’s within the next month or so and that’s what we are hoping for and we are hoping for good news when we go down there,” Garcia replied.

After almost three decades living in Michigan and raising a family, Jorge Garcia was deported to Mexico after being escorted by immigration agents at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in January, according to The Washington Free Beacon.

His wife was invited by Michigan Democrat, Rep. Debbie Dingell, that same month to attend the president’s State of the Union address.
