The Obama FBI secretly spied on no fewer than seven Trump associates: Steve Bannon, Michael Cohen, Michael Flynn, Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, Carter Page and George Papadopoulos.
That’s what Sharyl Attkisson, an Emmy Award-winning investigative journalist, concluded in her analysis for The Hill entitled “8 signs pointing to a counterintelligence operation deployed against Trump’s campaign.”
Attkisson said the Obama administration’s apparent weaponization of the FBI and CIA to rig the election for Hillary Clinton is disturbing because it “implies widespread misuse of America’s intelligence and law enforcement apparatus.”
“Secret surveillance was conducted on no fewer than seven Trump associates: chief strategist Stephen Bannon; lawyer Michael Cohen; national security adviser Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn; adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner; campaign chairman Paul Manafort; and campaign foreign policy advisers Carter Page and George Papadopoulos.
The FBI reportedly applied for a secret warrant in June 2016 to monitor Manafort, Page, Papadopoulos and Flynn. If true, it means the FBI targeted Flynn six months before his much-debated conversation with Russia’s ambassador, Sergey Kislyak.”
Attkisson also slammed the reckless “unmasking” of Trump aides illegally surveilled by the Obama FBI, and named the top four Obama officials who did most of the unmasking:
- James Clapper, former Director of National Intelligence.
- Samantha Power, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
- Susan Rice, former national security adviser.
- Sally Yates, former deputy attorney general.
Incidentally, these former Obama aides have been among the most vocal critics of President Trump. The purpose of their unmaskings was apparently to embarrass targeted Trump aides by suggesting they were doing something wrong to warrant being spied on.
Attkisson also trashed the steady stream of media leaks from Obama holdovers inside the FBI, DOJ and CIA, whose sole purpose is to undermine the president. “There’s been a steady and apparently orchestrated campaign of leaks — some true, some false, but nearly all of them damaging to President Trump’s interests,” she wrote.
In September 2017, Attkisson said she was not surprised by reports that the Obama administration had spied on Donald Trump when he was a private citizen. Because that’s exactly what Obama did to her.
Attkisson said her computer and laptop were hacked after she did stories criticizing then-president Barack Obama. In 2015, Attkisson filed a federal lawsuit against the Obama Justice Department (and then-Attorney General Eric Holder) for breaking into her personal computer. That lawsuit continues to this day.
While the mainstream media have been grousing about President Trump being “mean” to them, Attkisson said the Obama administration systematically weaponized federal intelligence agencies to spy on, intimidate, and silence reporters and political opponents.
Making the Robert Mueller investigation seem all the more suspicious are new revelations by former Trump campaign adviser Michael Caputo, who said the Mueller team showed no interest when he told them he suspected there were two spies embedded inside the campaign.
“I gave [that info] to the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Mueller investigators when I sat with them…and they didn’t seem the least bit interested,” Caputo recounted. “They didn’t even take notes.”
