As the suspect who opened fire in the Trump resort shooting faced a judge in court, a moment of unexpected comedy unfolded.

In what could be a lawyer’s worst nightmare, Jonathan Oddi appeared to admit to one of the charges against him even as his attorney was working to get it dismissed.

The 42-year-old porn actor and stripper was shot by police after he yelled anti-Trump remarks and opened fire in the lobby of Trump National Doral Golf Club in Florida last week. He has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, one count of aggravated assault per attempted murder charge, burglary, criminal mischief, grand theft and creating a false fire alarm.

As he faced the judge in a court appearance on Monday, Oddi’s attorney attempted to get the false fire-alarm charge dropped, ABC 10 reported.

“I didn’t see necessarily the alarm pushing,” the public defender began, before being interrupted by Oddi.

“I did push the alarm” Oddi said, as his lawyer quickly shut off his microphone.

“You know, sir, everything is being recorded,” Judge Mindy Glazer said, smiling. “If you want to speak, it’s fine. I am happy to listen.”

Oddi continued speaking but his comments were not audible.

“Your attorney turned the microphone off, though. Probably a wise move,” the judge remarked.

Oddi was arrested after police exchanged gunfire with him in the lobby of the Miami resort. Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez indicated that Oddi allegedly tried to lure officers into a gunfight. He reportedly pulled a fire alarm and fired a handgun into the roof of the lobby then waited for officers “to engage them.”

The gunman was treated for multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body while a Doral police officer suffered a broken wrist.
