A Muslim advocacy group blasted President Trump for his Ramadan message which makes “a mockery of American Muslims.”
Muslim Advocates, a national legal advocacy organization based in California, slammed the president’s message in a press release on Wednesday, accusing the “bigotry-ridden administration” of “unlawful discrimination and harassment.”
Trump sent a greeting Tuesday to all Muslims around the world observing Ramadan, a month-long period of fasting and spiritual reflection commemorating when the Quran was first revealed to the prophet Muhammad.

“Ramadan reminds us of the richness Muslims add to the religious tapestry of American life,” he said in a statement.

“In the United States, we are all blessed to live under a Constitution that fosters religious liberty and respects religious practice,” Trump added. “Our Constitution ensures Muslims can observe Ramadan in accordance with the dictates of conscience and unimpeded by government.”
But for Muslim Advocates, Trump’s words were incendiary.
“President Trump is correct. Our Constitution does allow all religions to practice freely in our shared, diverse nation. However, the Trump administration continually tries to supersede the law of our land and ban Muslims,” Farhana Khera, Executive Director of Muslim Advocates, said in a statement.
“The administration has been hard at work behind the scenes to enact a web of policies and practices across a range of federal agencies, all with the goal of restricting the entry of Muslims into the country,” Khera continued.
This narrative lines up with the left’s rhetoric on a “Muslim ban” by the president which does not exist. The Trump administration has issued multiple versions of a travel ban since he took office but has never banned just Muslims as a people. The temporary travel bans have been directed at restricting non-U.S. citizens from certain Middle East countries from entering the U.S.
Never mind that the citizens may not even be Muslims themselves, or the fact that the red-flagged nations were based on a list put forth by the administration of former President Obama.
“President Trump’s statement makes a mockery of American Muslims,” the Muslim Advocates statement concluded. “We must remain vigilant under this bigotry-ridden administration. Muslim Advocates is committed to doing all we can to protect the right of all to live free from unlawful discrimination and harassment.”
And the plan of “doing all we can” apparently includes a call for others to join in taking a stand against the president who they claim “has made demonizing minorities a centerpiece of his presidency”

This from what some purport is a religion of peace.
Last year, Trump became the first president in decades not to mark the end of Ramadan with a celebration dinner at the White House. His statement last year on the holy month also mentioned terrorism in the wake of recent terrorist attacks in Europe and the Middle East.
