Tucker reviews Mueller probe, turns up ONE finding: We’ve learned ‘how clueless folks who run D.C. are’

One year into Robert Mueller’s appointment as special counsel there is still no evidence of collusion between Russia and the campaign of President Donald Trump.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson ran a check-up of sorts on the probe to determine “how it’s going.”

“Well the investigation is costing millions of dollars, it’s producing thousands and thousands of hours of cable news commentary, ” Carlson said Monday during “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” adding that the probe has not delivered on its promises.

The investigation has not yet provided “evidence of any plot by the Trump campaign to collude with the Russian government to hack the presidency, to beat Hillary Clinton,” he continued. “People have been charged with crimes, but only for behavior totally unconnected to Trump’s campaign or because they allegedly lied to Mueller’s investigative team.”

The Fox News host noted the example of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn who was charged with a crime, “even though his FBI interviewers, we just learned, didn’t believe he was lying when they spoke to him.”

“So a few people are having their lives destroyed, but for nothing that we can see. No collusion has been found or even suggested,” Carlson said.

He suggested that some insights have been gathered, however, like finding out that whatever influence Russia did try to have in the 2016 election was not very effective and seemed less about promoting one candidate than just “sowing chaos and disunity in the American political system.”

More than anything, we’ve learned is “just how clueless the people who run Washington, D.C. are,” Carlson said, adding that while Democrats hoped to use the Mueller probe for political leverage, it does not appear to be helping them in the upcoming midterms.

Carlson argued that Democrats couldn’t face their election defeat with Hillary Clinton at the helm, and they “concocted the Russia collusion story as a way to sustain a world where they did nothing wrong.”

“For more than a year, Russia was all they could talk about because they certainly didn’t want to talk about the issues that got Trump elected in the first place,” Carlson noted, adding that their strategy has not panned out as Democrats had hoped.

“Their lead is dwindling,” Carlson concluded. “Why? Because the public has recognized that the Russia investigation is not what they said it was. It is, and it has been from the beginning, a witch hunt by a cabal frantic to keep its hold on power.”
