Fox News cut ties with retired military general Tom McInerney, who said torture worked on “Songbird” John McCain when he was a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

A Fox News rep told multiple media outlets that McInerney will not be invited back on Fox Business Network or Fox News Channel. McInerney had been a contributing military analyst for Fox, but his contract expired in August 2017.

McInerney was interviewed by Fox Business host Charles Payne on May 10. While defending Gina Haspel, President Trump’s nominee for CIA director, McInerney said enhanced interrogation techniques do work to induce prisoners to offer valuable information.

Haspel has come under fire for her past role in the use of enhanced interrogation techniques on radical Islamic terrorists after the 9/11 attacks. McCain said he opposes her confirmation as CIA director because of what she did in the past.

“The fact is, it worked on John McCain,” McInerney said. “That’s why they call him ‘Songbird John.’ Those methods can work and they are effective, as former Vice President Cheney said. And if we have to use them to save a million American lives, we will do whatever we have to.”

There have been multiple reports over the years that McCain provided information against the United States to the enemy during his five years as a POW during the Vietnam War. Nobody would hold that against him, since most people would succumb to torture. It’s highly effective; that’s why enemies of the United States continue to use it on Americans.

Now that McCain, 81, is dying of brain cancer and is planning his funeral, criticizing him is considered tasteless. Just like how Democrats lionized the late Senator Ted Kennedy as a champion for women’s rights when he died in 2009.

It was considered mean and tasteless to discuss how Kennedy tried to cover up his 1969 murder of Mary Jo Kopechne.

John McCain’s wife, Cindy McCain, slammed Fox Business host Charles Payne, writing, “Please choose your guest more wisely.”

Payne replied, “Yes, I will and hope you accept my apology.”

Payne also issued a lengthier apology, saying he regrets not interjecting when retired general Tom McInerney initially made those remarks.

I regret I did not catch this remark, as it should have been challenged. As a proud military veteran and son of a Vietnam Vet these words neither reflect my or the network’s feelings about Senator McCain, or his remarkable service and sacrifice to this country.”

Meanwhile, many Americans aren’t holding their breath waiting for McCain to apologize for attacking President Trump multiple times on foreign soil, as BizPac Review previously reported.

This is distasteful when you consider that when Senator McCain is abroad, he represents the United States of America, whose president is Donald Trump.

Moreover, as a member of the GOP, it’s his duty to support (or at least not viciously attack) the head of his own party. But you can’t criticize McCain for that now, because he’s “dying.”

Americans are also not waiting for McCain to apologize for wasting millions in taxpayer money on the fruitless Robert Mueller investigation, which he jump-started by giving the unverified “Trump Dossier” to former FBI director James Comey.

After a year and millions of taxpayer dollars wasted, Mueller has still produced no evidence of collusion. Thanks, John McCain!
