Liberal Fox News contributor Geraldo Rivera is “very disappointed” at his son Cruz Rivera for allegedly choking and biting his ex-girlfriend in a fit of rage after she dumped him.
“The actions Cruz is accused of committing are not consistent with the young man the Rivera family loves and supports,” Geraldo’s attorney Arthur Aidala told the New York Daily News. “Obviously, Geraldo is very disappointed and disturbed by these allegations.”

Cruz, 30, was arrested on May 1 at the Washington Heights apartment of his ex-girlfriend, Meghan Burke. According to police reports, Cruz assaulted Burke after she broke off their nine-year relationship. He’s accused of choking his ex-girlfriend unconscious and biting her.
When Cruz was released without bail on May 2, he reportedly smirked while telling photographers, “I hope I look good, guys.”
Meghan Burke’s mom said Cruz is a violent, manipulative nutcase. “He’s insane, he’s a sociopath, he’s a real manipulator,” Burke’s mom told the NY Daily News. “Ever since she met him, we have tried too hard to counsel her against him. He’s not a good guy. This has been an ongoing thing…She’s been trying to stay away from him over the past year.”

The Daily News reported:
“Burke, who began dating Rivera back in 2009, visited his Washington Heights apartment on Tuesday evening to retrieve some of her personal items after their split, police sources said.
Rivera instead threw Burke down on his bed, wrapped both hands around the victim’s throat and began biting her hand and leg, according to police sources.
Rivera’s roommate dialed 911 once the choking commenced, and a neighbor described a loud argument followed by a woman screaming.”
Cruz reportedly fathered three children with other women during his nine-year relationship with Meghan Burke. Rivera was charged with assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, aggravated harassment, attempted assault and harassment.

He was released after Burke refused to press charges against him at the last minute. Cruz’s attorney told reporters that Burke had called Cruz to say she was sorry and she still loved him.
Geraldo Rivera’s attorney insisted Cruz is a nice guy. “He’s upset about the situation, but not angry with his son,” said the lawyer. “He supports him 100%.”
