President Trump’s former campaign communications adviser slammed the disgusting tactics being used by Democrats in the “bogus investigation” of collusion, accusing them of “a punishment strategy” meant to destroy President Trump and those who work for him.
“They’re still looking for Russia collusion,” Michael Caputo said Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” referring to his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee.
The New York-based political consultant who worked on Trump’s 2016 campaign, discussed how the ongoing Russia probe into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin in the 2016 U.S. election has cost him his home, jeopardized his children’s future and has made his family a target of death threats, adding that he has racked up $125,000 in legal bills “for nothing.”
Caputo told Tucker Carlson that he was warned not to discuss his testimony or what had transpired in the closed-door meetings with congressional committees.
“They warned me to be careful in interfering with the investigation,” he said.
“So they’re threatening and intimidating you basically, it sounds like,” Carlson asked.
“I’m not going to be friending them on Facebook today, if that’s what you’re asking,” Caputo replied, adding that he is not alone in being treated this way.
“I’m just a witness, I can’t imagine if someone is a subject or a target what they’re going to go through,” Caputo said, explaining how each time he is called in to Washington to testify it costs him another $25,000. Caputo blasted Senate committee Democrats for conducting the ‘witch hunt” that has cost him dearly in a scathing rebuke following appearance before the committee on Tuesday.
“Forget about all the death threats against my family. I want to know who cost us so much money, who crushed our kids, who forced us out of our home, all because you lost an election,” he said. “I want to know because God Damn you to Hell.”
He has had to open a GoFundMe page to help pay his legal fees and told Carlson he “certainly didn’t sign up for this” when he went to work for Trump. And the chilling effect of it all is that Caputo vowed he will never work for another Republican campaign again.
“This is a punishment strategy. I think they want to destroy the president, they want to destroy his family, they want to destroy his businesses, they want to destroy his friends,” he said, accusing Democrats of using the tactics as a way to intimidate future businessmen from running for president.
“Clearly these lawsuits after the fact are the new Democratic strategy: when you lose you still win,” Caputo said, adding that anyone who chooses to work on a Republican campaign in the future is “crazy.”
“It’s disgusting,” Carlson responded, shaking his head.
