This year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner featured some of the most disrespectful, nasty and just plain unfunny “jokes” in the event’s 104 year history, all courtesy so-called “comedian” Michelle Wolf.
While Wolf admittedly aimed some jokes at Democrats and their liberal media allies, she reserved the nastiest ones for President Donald Trump and his top officials, including White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who by the way, attended the dinner.
Wolf compared the press secretary to a character in the dystopian film “The Handmaid’s Tale” and referred to her as an “Uncle Tom” for Caucasian women.
“I’m never really sure what to call Sarah Huckabee Sanders,” she said. “Is it Sarah Sanders? Is it Sarah Huckabee Sanders? Is it Cousin Huckabee? Is it Auntie Huckabee Sanders? What’s Uncle Tom, but for white women who disappoint other white women?”
She also attacked White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, suggesting it would be nice if a tree fell on her: “All she does is lie. If you don’t give her a platform she has nowhere to lie. It’s like that old saying, if a tree falls in the woods, how do we get Kellyanne under that tree?”
Her jokes performed so poorly — note the lack of laughter in the videos above — that even some of the leftist media’s most noted figures slammed Wolf after the event concluded.
Check out the following tweet from Meg Kinnard, a reporter for the Associated Press:
If the #WHCD dinner did anything tonight, it made the chasm between journalists and those who don't trust us, even wider. And those of us based in the red states who work hard every day to prove our objectivity will have to deal with it.

She wasn’t the only one:
Unfortunately, I don't think we advanced the cause of journalism tonight.

Couldn’t agree more. So much important and amazing journalism this year — that should be the focus, when truth matters and is needed more than ever. It was an embarrassment in the room and surely to the audience at home. https://t.co/vhbnG6tn55

I sat there, not laughing and aghast at many of the jokes that took mean spirited personal shots, and knew the routine was a political gift to the Trump admin. https://t.co/egLyvEsNcK

A number of current and former Trump administration officials agreed:
An R/X rated spectacle that started poorly and ended up in the bottom of the canyon. Another victory for @realDonaldTrump for not attending and proving his point once again. The room was uncomfortable. Trump lovers and even a large number of Trump haters were pretty miserable.

Tonight’s #WHCD was a disgrace

Everyone likewise agreed that Sanders, who remained seated and absorbed Wolf’s attacks like a stoic champion, deserved praise for the class she displayed:
That @PressSec sat and absorbed intense criticism of her physical appearance, her job performance, and so forth, instead of walking out, on national television, was impressive.

.@PressSec Sarah Huckabee Sanders was pure class and grace on that dais tonight. #WhenTheyGoLowWeGoHigh

We should graciously thank the liberal comedian for once again reminding we the American people of three things:
One: Why our beloved president refuses to attend this incestuous dinner.
Two: Why we loathe Hollywood and everything for which it stands.
Three: And why we distrust the mainstream media and everything it says.
Thank you, Miss Wolf, for perfectly showcasing the snobbery, condescension and mistruths that define so much of mainstream culture — and that we 62,979,879-strong “Deplorables” who voted for the president want nothing to do with.
Well done, you unfunny hack!
