“I believe in Beto – and I believe he would be a fighter for the people of Texas and all across the country in the United States Senate. But winning in Texas won’t be easy, and Beto’s campaign relies entirely on the support of grassroots donors like you,” Warren wrote in an email to her supporters Tuesday.

The senator asks that folks “chip in today to fight for Beto,” reminding them that “we can win from Texas to Massachusetts and all over the country – if we get organized, stand together, and fight our hearts out – today, tomorrow, and every day until Election Day.”

O’Rourke is challenging GOP Sen. Ted Cruz for his seat in the 2018 midterm election cycle. The young Democrat isn’t simply attractive to Texas Democrats and left-leaning moderates, his campaign is attractive to Democratic voters across the nation. Warren’s endorsement is evidence enough of that fact and could prove to be a solid boon for his campaign.

Warren is raking in campaign donations like few others in the upper chamber of Congress and many believe she is a favorite to become the Democratic nominee for president in 2020. The Massachusetts senator cleaned up in the first quarter of 2018, bringing in $3.12 million. Warren has some $15 million in cash on hand for her own Senate reelection campaign.

O’Rourke currently finds himself trailing Cruz marginally. A recent Quinnipiac poll had O’Rourke with 44 percent, trailing Cruz by just 3 percentage points, who mustered 47 percent.

Cruz has an upper hand in terms of name recognition. The senator took no time making a splash in the Senate during the 2013-2014 fights over Obamacare’s individual mandate. Cruz was also the last remaining GOP challenger to President Donald Trump for the Republican nomination for president in 2016.
