The hotly-anticipated memos of James Comey were released last week, and they show that the fired FBI director had illegally leaked classified intel to the media and lied about it to Congress and the FBI.
But the Comey memos also suggest that CNN had orchestrated the media coverage of the discredited “Trump Dossier” through one of its reporters…who, it turns out, is the daughter of former Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett. Observers say this is more evidence of the collusion between the liberal media and Democrats.
Veteran conservative publisher James Hoft first made the observation, when he excerpted the following from a Daily Caller report:
Former FBI Director James Comey wrote in a newly released memo that pressure from news outlets — “CNN in particular” — convinced him to brief then-President-Elect Donald Trump on the infamous Steele dossier during a meeting at Trump Tower on Jan. 6, 2017.
“I said media like CNN had [the dossier] and were looking for a news hook,” Comey wrote in a memo just after briefing Trump about the salacious allegations in the dossier. “I said it was inflammatory stuff that they would get killed for reporting straight up from the source reports.”
Four days after that meeting, CNN published a story revealing the existence of a salacious report alleging the Russian government had compromised Trump. The CNN story was referring to what’s now known as the dossier — an unverified 35-page report written by former British spy Christopher Steele.
That prompted Hoft to remark:
“So how do you suppose James Comey knew that CNN was about to run the salacious anti-Trump dossier? And who could have been pressuring leaker James Comey with the discredited dossier? Guess who started working at CNN covering the DOJ around this time? Valerie Jarrett’s daughter Laura!”
CNN hired Laura Jarrett in September 2016 (two months before the 2016 presidential election) to cover the Justice Department, even though she had no experience in journalism.
Imagine that! Someone with no journalism background gets a plum job at CNN to cover Barack Obama’s Justice Department at the very time that her mom was the senior adviser to then-President Obama. That doesn’t sound unethical at all…
CNN should balance out its coverage by hiring Tiffany Trump to cover the White House. She has no journalism experience, either, so she’d be perfect for the job.
Tellingly, the same liberal media that repeatedly accuse President Trump of nepotism for hiring his business-executive daughter Ivanka said nothing about this festering conflict of interest at leftist “news” network CNN.
Laura Jarrett’s hiring at CNN came around the time that President Trump rebuked CNN reporter Jim Acosta at a press conference by saying: “You are fake news!” Wow, who knew how prophetic Trump was when he said that?
President Trump’s 2020 campaign manager, Brad Parscale, said Jim Acosta should be stripped of his White House press credentials for his repeated outbursts during press conferences.
“Maybe it is time for Jim Acosta to get a suspension for breaking protocol,” Parscale tweeted. “He continues to embarrass himself and CNN. Pull his credentials for each incident.”
