With fired FBI Director James Comey commandeering the political spotlight with his forthcoming shady memoir that likens President Donald Trump to a mob boss, and a much anticipated media blitz, starting with an interview Sunday with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, the Republican Party countered with a timely video about Comey’s lack of credibility.
Top Democrats, not Republicans, are featured in the spot trashing “Lyin’ Comey” and his lack of integrity: “Comey isn’t credible — just ask Democrats.”
In the video, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Shumer, D-N.Y., is heard calling Comey’s performance “appalling,” before declaring that he does not “have confidence in him any longer.”
“Maybe he’s not in the right job,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., says of Comey.
Even dingy Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., gets in on the act, stating: “The FBI director has no credibility.”
“Comey is a liar and a leaker and his misconduct led both Republicans and Democrats to call for his firing,” Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement. “If Comey wants the spotlight back on him, we’ll make sure the American people understand why he has no one but himself to blame for his complete lack of credibility.”
A Lyin’ Comey website has been set up to support the campaign to draw attention to Comey’s questionable credibility.
With legal red flags already emerging over Comey’s book, Trump did his part Friday morning, posted a pair of scathing tweets calling him an “untruthful slime ball” who “should be prosecuted.”
