If ever an actor radiated a liberal persona, it would be Robert De Niro
The 74-year-old Academy Award-winning actor made it clear in a recent interview with IndiWire that he’s not interested in hearing opposing views, has no use for the NRA and only cares about anti-gun high school kids.
Oh, and the virulent anti-Trump zealot slammed Roseanne.
“The people that I care about are those young people who demonstrated,” said De Niro, speaking of the recent gun control efforts that featured some of the students from the Parkland, Fla., high school that was attacked by a crazed gunman.
“They’re the future,” he added. “They know. They say, ‘We’ll remember in November.’ They’re the ones that feel the way we do, not the way the gun lovers and the NRA do, with all that idiocy to the point of absurdity… The CDC can’t even do a study because the NRA stopped it. The CDC works for us! How can the NRA stop that? What kind of absurd logic is that?”
The actor had no issue with taking on roles throughout his career that feature gun violence, using the topic to imply an NRA member is a “total lunatic.”
“I could play somebody who’s a total lunatic,” De Niro said. “I could play somebody who’s a member of the NRA. It doesn’t mean I subscribe to that. That’s what an actor does.”
And while he doesn’t mind collecting a substantial paycheck for doing so, the liberal actor was clear he sees no need for talking with those who share a different point of view.
This was evident when he was asked about last week’s reboot of “Roseanne,” which drew over 25 million viewers — actress Roseann Barr has expressed support for the president, as does the character she plays on the show.
“I’ve never seen her show before, I didn’t know she was supporting Trump, but I have no interest in that,” De Niro responded. “We’re at a point with all of us this where it’s beyond trying to see another person’s point of view.”
This being Trump’s fault, of course.
“There are ways you can talk about that, but we’re at a point where the things that are happening in our country are so bad and it comes from Trump,” De Niro stated, before brushing off the popular reboot.
“There are so many people who have left his administration, it’s a serious thing. So I don’t care about Roseanne,” he said. “They want that thing, fine. We have real issues in this country.”
And why a conservative American would ever attend a film featuring this wingnut, essentially elevating his platform, is one of the world’s greatest mysteries.
This reaction on Twitter pretty much sums it all up when it comes to Hollywood:
“Whenever I respect someone in this industry, I always try to avoid learning about them as a person, because they always ruin it for me,” tweeted Alana Mastangelo.
Whenever I respect someone in this industry, I always try to avoid learning about them as a person, because they always ruin it for me.
Robert De Niro is a perfect example of this; such a huge letdown. https://t.co/goN6lFHLZc

Here’s a sampling of other responses, as seen on Twitter:
As @KurtSchlichter regularly points out, they want us enslaved or dead.
This is their messaging to justify it. https://t.co/CnzCYQXKGp

Why do I regularly see headlines about Robert De Niro’s Trump commentary? Even among politically vocal celebrities whose off-the-cuff opinions are inarticulate and unimpressive, he fails to shine. Always a variant of, “This fuckin’ guy. Can you believe this fuckin’ guy?” https://t.co/7hKNP1tZzH

De Niro is senile. He believes that he's the tough guy character he used to play. He was never that guy. https://t.co/ERhFvYvBFa

Clears up why liberals like de Niro are enemies of the people. That is exactly what William F Buckley said about liberals decades ago:
"Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views."

THIS entitlement/arrogance is what’s going to get Trump reelected. There’s a difference b/w not wanting to get point of view from straight up racists/Islamophobes (I agree). But LOTS of Trump voters are misinformed/beaten down by establishment PROGRESSIVES https://t.co/SIIAXnssir

Interesting, it looks like “Jordan’s” above tweet was deleted. Little doubt, he was “beaten down” by regressives who, like DiNiro, don’t want to hear any opposing ideas.
