Restaurant servers tell celebs to mind their own darn business over higher min wage: We’re not victims

A group of New York restaurant workers who would be forced to live the real-life effects of the left’s campaign to drive up the minimum wage had a clear message for Hollywood elitists intervening on their behalf: thanks, but no thanks.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Reese Witherspoon and Natalie Portman were among more than a dozen Hollywood stars who signed on to letter to Gov. Andrew Cuomo asking him to raise the minimum wage for tipped workers, according to the New York Post.

A counter effort — 500 member strong — was organized by Maggie Raczynski, who is a bartender at the Clifton Park Outback Steakhouse, and the group produced a letter of its own.

“You’ve been misled that we earn less than minimum wage and that we’re somehow helpless victims of sexual harassment,” the letter said. “Thank you for your concern. But we don’t need your help and we’re not asking to be saved.”

Ouch.

Raczynski is seen below speaking to fellow industry workers about contacting their legislators.

Cuomo is considering raising the minimum wage for tipped workers to the same level as the regular minimum wage, which will be $15 by 2020, The Post reported.

Critics argue that rising minimum wages can impact workers in negative ways, chief among them are fewer jobs and shorter hours.

But tipped workers are in a category of their own and tend to make well above the minimum wage. They are also highly protective of their work environment and the impact outside influences can have on their precarious income.

“The cost of food is going to go up and the number of servers is going to go down,” Raczynski told The Post.

And while liberals struggle to grasp basic economics, social media users get it, as seen in the responses on Twitter:
