Trump and Congress get the hell out of Dodge, leave lots of good guys with guns to guard anti-gun fanatics

In a not so surprising display of liberal hypocrisy, participants in the “March for Our Lives” protests against gun violence were mum on the presence of armed security at the events.

Anti-gun fanatics have been railing against weapons and even using the “good guys with a gun” argument after the mass shooting at the Parkland, Florida high school last month that inspired Saturday’s protest in Washington, D.C. and elsewhere. But it seems the photos don’t lie.

The irony was not lost on Twitter users.

Photos and video continued to be posted of “conspicuous security” at the rally.

The fact that heavy security was visible ahead of and during the protests was confirmed in multiple tweets.

Perhaps the added irony, at least in the nation’s capitol, was the fact that lawmakers had just headed out of town for a two-week congressional recess.  President Trump, as well, will miss the fun as he is spending the weekend in Florida.

As thousands of students gathered in Washington to demand Trump and Congress act on gun control legislation, the president along with first lady Melania Trump and son Barron had arrived at the private club in Palm Beach, Mar-a-Lago.

While protesters in the area gathered along Trump’s motorcade route on Saturday afternoon, many others welcomed the first family with cheers as they arrived, according to The Palm Beach Post.

The White House issued an official statement on the March on Saturday, praising students for “exercising their First Amendment rights.”

“We applaud the many courageous young Americans exercising their First Amendment rights today,” White House deputy press secretary Lindsay Walters said in a statement, The Hill reported.

“Keeping our children safe is a top priority of the President’s, which is why he urged Congress to pass the Fix NICS [National Instant Criminal Background Check System] and STOP School Violence Acts, and signed them into law,” the statement read. “Additionally, on Friday, the Department of Justice issued the rule to ban bump stocks following through on the President’s commitment to ban devices that turn legal weapons into illegal machine guns.”
