Fox Business anchor Lou Dobbs said he’s fed up with weak Republicans who refuse to back President Trump as his presidency is being subverted by the Deep State.
“There is a mission … to frame the president, and it is time to end it,” Dobbs said. “And I can’t find the shortest way to throw this switch and turn it off.
Dobbs told his guest, Fox legal analyst Gregg Jarrett, that he doesn’t understand why GOP lawmakers won’t do anything to shut down Robert Mueller’s hollow investigation of “collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russia when there’s no evidence.
Jarrett, an attorney, said it’s clear Mueller has a motive, which is to take down President Trump, even if it means wasting taxpayer money and harassing former Trump aides.
“It is now squarely in hands of Robert Mueller,” Jarrett said. “He is not to be trusted. He has demonstrated this by selecting an entirely partisan crew of prosecutors that he has an agenda, and the agenda is to get the president.”
President Trump has expressed frustration over the ongoing taxpayer-funded “witch hunt” and the fact that Mueller’s team is stacked with former Hillary supporters and Democratic donors. The Special Counsel is supposed to be nonpartisan and apolitical, but has proven to be anything but.
Dobbs said the anti-Trump agenda must be shared by some Republicans, because they’re standing idly by while Mueller hijacks the news cycle every day with anti-Trump nothing burgers.
“It must be a shared agenda with Speaker Ryan and Mitch McConnell as well,” Dobbs said. “Because they have the power to stand with the president, and they are not doing it. I watch a Trey Gowdy and Bob Goodlatte, who become low-energy and taciturn and too pious for my taste, as they consider letting the Special Counsel just simply meander through life subverting the presidency. This is an ignorance within the Republican Party that has to be confronted.”
Jarrett agreed. “It’s ignorance and a certain level of laziness,” he said, adding:
Not much happens in the halls of Congress. And they are so accustomed to not doing much. It really is a rare bird who has a backbone like a Devin Nunes, who actually stands up and says, ‘we’re going to investigate this.’ And Jim Jordan…all of these guys who have stood up and said, ‘wait a minute, this is wrong. And we’re going to investigate and get to the bottom of it…[Matt Gaetz, and Ron Desantos]–Those are strong people with convictions.”
Dobbs retorted: “Ryan ain’t one of ’em, and neither is McConnell.”
Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz, an attorney, summed it up best when he issued this 5-word dare to Mueller: Put up or shut up.
“It’s time for Bob Mueller to put up or shut up. If there’s evidence of collusion, let’s see it!” Gaetz told Fox News. “If there’s not, let’s move on…The Mueller investigation has been proven to be biased. And the American people know it’s biased!”
Gaetz added: “[Fired deputy FBI director] Andrew McCabe was present when the FBI hatched a scheme to deprive Donald Trump of the presidency both before and after his election. That is totally unacceptable, and it poses a clear and present danger to our democracy.”
