‘So crazy it just might work’: Bill Maher slams liberals for ‘reflexively hating on’ planned Trump-Kim Jong Un meeting

Who would have thought Bill Maher would for once be the voice of reason on the left?

The “Real Time” host spent the first part of his opening monologue on Friday blasting many of his fellow liberals in the media for “reflexively hating” on President Trump’s pending meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un, declaring the president’s gambit “so crazy it just might work.”

Maher, a frequent critic of Trump, opened by saying he was happy “because Kim Jong-Un of North Korea yesterday told South Korea that he’s willing to meet with the leader of the United States.”

“But Putin wasn’t available, so Trump’s going. Trump is going. ‘Fat Man’ and ‘Little Boy’ are gonna have a date,” he quipped.

The comedian continued by expressing hope that the May encounter between Kim and Trump would indeed lead to North Korea’s denuclearization.

“But you know what? I was watching all the cable news last night, and to all these liberals who are reflexively hating on this: A. Obama (remember him?) proposed the exact same thing in 2008 and they loved it. And B–f*** you, you don’t live on the West Coast, where a nuke can get here faster than an Uber from North Korea.

“I mean, what is this bulls***? ‘No president has ever done this.’ Yeah, and they all failed! So I’m gonna file this one under ‘so crazy it just might work.’ This could be the one thing that Trump, honestly, is uniquely qualified to pull off.”

Maher called the North Korean  leader and the American president “Rocket Man” and “Rain Man,” respectively, and said the two men are “mirror images” of each other.

“They have the same interests: flattery, celebrity, tyranny. They both have daddy issues and overeating issues and problematic family members and inexplicable hair.”

The “Real Time” host also brought up Kim’s friendship with retired basketball player Dennis Rodman, who has visited North Korea several times, including on Kim’s birthday.

“Who is the one American that Kim likes? Dennis Rodman. Well Trump is the closest we’re ever gonna get to President Dennis Rodman.

Rodman is also a friend of President Trump who supported him during the 2016 presidential election, notably defending him at one point against primary opponent Ted Cruz.

Maher continued:

“Another stupid argument I heard on TV last night: ‘Well, we’ll just be giving Kim the respect he and his family have always craved.’ So what? So what? If it works! My old pot dealer used to hang out with me ’cause I’m a celebrity. I still got free weed.

“And, you know, if you hate Trump so much–I do. This may not even be happening because of Donald Trump. This could be his tough talk. It could be because of the sanctions. It could be because of the Olympics. Who knows what is in Kim Jong-Un’s mind?”

He closed with a jab at President Trump’s alleged affair with adult entertainer Stormy Daniels.

“North Korea is not the only place Trump will be traveling to. Next week, he’s coming here to California. Isn’t that great? He didn’t want to, but this is where the porn stars are.”
